BLACK ADAM: Hawkman Actor Aldis Hodge Reveals How He's Been Preparing To Play The JSA Member

Black Adam has assembled an impressive cast, and with Dwayne Johnson's magically charged anti-hero set to take on the Justice Society, we have a lot of reasons to be excited for the DC Comics adventure. So far, Noah Centineo has been chosen to play Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell will bring Cyclone to life, and we're still waiting to hear what Warner Bros. has planned for Dr. Fate.

Easily one of the most exciting casting additions, though, is The Invisible Man star Aldis Hodge as Hawkman.

It's felt like he's been waiting on his big break for the longest time, and taking on a role like this is bound to send him straight to the A-List. It's an opportunity Hodge is clearly excited for, and it was during a recent interview with Screen Rant that he shared the depths of his research for the role.

"As far as research, I've done all kinds of research," he said. "I read all the graphic novels, from the JSA to the Hawkman series. I find myself really enjoying who and what he is, and how he is, and I know what we have in store for how we're going to show him. It's got me really excited."

While it seems inevitable that Black Adam will eventually face off with Shazam, we don't currently know what Warner Bros. has planned for the Justice Society members. We're definitely hoping it's a little more ambitious than what seems to be happening with the Birds of Prey, and Hawkman is a character with some serious spinoff potential (especially if he's joined by Hawkgirl).

Which member of the Justice Society are you most excited to see on screen?

Excited to see Hawkman and Hawkwoman.

Terrified to see DC fvck up the Justice Society as quickly as they fvcked up the Justice League.

Deja Vu all over again.

Can't wait to see the costume, fear that it's going to be really difficult to make that helmet not look goofy.

Dude is a talent, I just wish it was a different role.

"GREEN LANTERN: John Stewart Actor Aldis Hodge Reveals How He's Been Preparing To Play The JL Member" has such a better ring to it.

The character I'm most excited to see. Would love to see a Hawkman movie with him after. He's going to look rad in the costume

Controversial opinion, but I'm kinda glad they made the leap to make Hawkman black in this adaptation.

I've been saying it since New 52: race-bending Carter Hall makes sense, given the Egyptian mythology of the character in some iterations.

@GothamSon - This is not a controversial opinion. This is a popular opinion.

@GothamSon - Hawkman was established as being an African slave in one of his past lives during Johns' run, so he's basically been reincarnated as every race anyway.

@KingLeonidas - In the case of Hawkman, yea. But in the case of other heroes? Changing race is a big point of contention

Black Adam is one of the DC projects where I went from not caring about it to being slightly and cautiously curious about (mainly because of the director, current screenwriters, and cast).
