We've been hearing that Superman could finally return for an appearance in Black Adam for quite a while now, but initial reports indicated that it may not be Henry Cavill in the costume. This led to speculation that we might be in for another "faceless" cameo similar to what we saw in both Shazam! and Peacemaker, but recent updates have told a different story.
Though nothing has been officially announced, rumored descriptions of Black Adam's post-credits scene point to Cavill stepping back into the iconic red and blue suit for a face-to-face with the Man in Black. Now, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson himself appears to have dropped a pretty big hint that the Man of Steel will indeed show up.
During an interview with Jakes Takes, Johnson was asked about a potential showdown between Teth Adam and Superman. The actor responded by saying that he "always listens to the fans," and that they created Black Adam to “be the most powerful and unstoppable force on this planet - but he most powerful and unstoppable force in the entire universe has been on the sidelines for too long.”
Johnson isn't flat-out confirming that Supes is going to appear in Black Adam here, of course, but these comments along with everything we've already heard suggest that it is a fairly strong possibility.
"From New Line Cinema, Dwayne Johnson stars in the action adventure Black Adam. The first-ever feature film to explore the story of the DC Super Hero comes to the big screen under the direction of Jaume Collet-Serra (“Jungle Cruise”). Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods— and imprisoned just as quickly—Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world."
Johnson stars alongside Aldis Hodge (City on a Hill, One Night in Miami) as Hawkman, Noah Centineo (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before) as Atom Smasher, Sarah Shahi (Sex/Life, Rush Hour 3) as Adrianna, Marwan Kenzari (Murder on the Orient Express, The Mummy) as Ishmael, Quintessa Swindell (Voyagers, Trinkets) as Cyclone, Bodhi Sabongui (A Million Little Things) as Amon, and Pierce Brosnan (the Mamma Mia! and James Bond franchises) as Dr. Fate.
Black Adam will be released nationwide on 21st October 2022 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
