Dwayne Johnson Teases Big DC Cameos In BLACK ADAM But Doesn't Think Shooting Will Start Until Late 2019

In an interview to promote the release of Skyscraper, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson teases cameos from a number of big DC Comics heroes in Black Adam but doesn't expect to start working on it any time soon...

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was originally supposed to make his long overdue big screen debut as Black Adam in Shazam! but plans changed and the character's solo movie now appears to be going nowhere fast. However, the actor has finally offered an update on where things stand and it sounds like his insanely busy schedule will mean he can't start work on the DC Comics movie until late 2019.

"With Black Adam, I don’t think we’re going to start early next year," he confirmed. "Early next year right now it looks like I’m going to be shooting Jumanji, and then after that, if everything goes well I’ll shoot a movie called Red Notice with Rawson Thurber again, with Gal Gadot, and another actor yet to be named. But Black Adam possibly at the end of next year. It’s coming along great, the script is coming along great we’re very happy with it." Well, that's a mostly positive update, right?

As for what we should expect from Black Adam, Johnson obviously didn't reveal much but did drop some very interesting hints about the movie getting some surprising cameos from familiar faces.

"Without giving anything away, there MIGHT be maybe a cameo or two of some of the other DC superheroes," Johnson teased. "We’ll see. That’s been the beauty of Black Adam as we’ve been developing it is that we could make a movie that just stood on its own too as well, but that’s also the beauty of those universes coming together at DC." Does that all but confirm appearances from Superman and Shazam? The majority of fans will certainly be hoping so but we'll have to wait and see.

Slowly but surely, the Rock has made me a believer in his star power and movies. His acting has improved even if he doesn't go outside his comfort zone much.

Big fan of Dwayne. He is a superstar and a showman, and it's noticed in all of his films and press tours. Also, he is a solid actor if you've seen his smaller films before the huge blockbusters the past few years.

This is good casting and just hope with the cameos, they aren't forced too much and are limited so the story is smooth and not cluttered.

The film will start shooting when God-King Dwayne says so. He'll fit in a few more favorably rated B-movies like Skyscraper before becoming Producer/Director/Star of Black Adam. Shazam will not be a cameo unless he enters and is quickly killed off by the awesome star-power/physical might of the Rock.

Still a miscast in my opinion, but I'll be open to being proved wrong.

thats really no news. nothing was said here. and if the rumors are true that WB is once again backing away from connecting films (and rehashing past mistakes) then the latter part probably isnt happening

One of my favorite villains. The Rock looks the part but might be too nice of a guy to pull off how violent Black Adam really is.

@blackandyellow - yea man most don't read his comics especially dwayne .... he really think he's a anti-hero ...... adam makes other villains uncomfortable,

@knocturnalzen10 - They can make him sort of an anti-hero at first if they adapt 52. But after his wife is killed he needs to become genocidal and destroy Bialya and kill a shit ton of heroes and villains.

WB execs " Hey Dwayne we are loving how Black Adam's script is shaping up, its great stuff, real great, however we believe there is a spot where we can introduce a Harley Quinn cameo"

DC, we don’t need a Black Adam movie. It’s a stupid idea. Can someone please tell me why the hell there isn’t someone there getting DC’s priorities straight. Stop putting out movies only hardcore fanboys want to see.

There are a lot of DC characters I’d rather see a movie of before Black Adam, but the idea that we could have two separate film series in Shazam and Black Adam come together in an epic Shazam vs Black Adam movie is tantalizing.

It’s too early to tell what this means for the future of Warner Bros. and DC Comics, but internal changes usually come with a deal of this size.

AT&T will want to bring in some of their own people to run things, and current employees could lose their jobs or choose to leave on their own. Whether or not those high level changes trickle down to the products that we consume remains to be seen.

I don’t get why they need a Black Adam movie. They could’ve introduced black Adam in the Shazam film.
