Anthony Hopkins Reacts To Oscar Win And Pays Tribute To BLACK PANTHER Star Chadwick Boseman

Many of you will be familiar with Anthony Hopkins' work in the Thor franchise (and HBO's Westworld), but his career has been a long and varied one. After winning the "Best Actor" Oscar for his iconic portrayal of Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of The Lambs almost 30 years ago, he landed the same award last night for his extraordinary work in The Father

However, viewers of the Academy Awards were left confused by the lack of an acceptance speech from the actor. That's because Hopkins was unavailable as he's currently back at home in Wales (can you blame him for not staying up all night?), and he's now shared his thoughts on his win via Instagram.

"Here I am in my homeland in Wales," the legendary actor says. "At 83 years of age, I did not expect to get this award, I really didn’t. I’m very grateful to the Academy."

He also paid tribute to late Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman, who was nominated in the same category for Ma Rainey's Black Bottom: "I want to pay tribute to Chadwick Boseman, who was taken from us far too early. I really did not expect this, so I feel very privileged and honored."

In the video's caption, Hopkins also thanks The Father, director Florian Zeller, his wife, and family.

Check out Hopkins' full reaction below and see the full list of winners here.
