Black Panther 3 Rumored Plot Details Reveals Plans For Namor And [Spoiler]'s Surprise Return

Potential Black Panther 3 plot details have been revealed, including plans for Tenoch Huerta's Namor the Submariner, Talokan, and a surprise return, likely in Wakanda's Ancestral Plane.

At last month's San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios announced that filmmaker Ryan Coogler would return to direct Black Panther 3. David Jonsson will play the new T'Challa (well, T'Challa II), while Letitia Wright and Winston Duke are set to return as Shuri and M'Baku.

While there's speculation that the MCU's Storm will appear in the threequel, The Cosmic Circus has revealed some possible plot details and a big return.

According to the site, a "portion" of Black Panther 3 will be set in Talokan, Namor the Submariner's underwater kingdom. Tenoch Huerta is expected to return as the Atlantean anti-hero, along with Mabel Cadena as Namora and Alex Livinalli as Attuma. Casting is also underway for Wakandan and Talokan extras.

In 2022's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Namor and Shuri initially butted heads before forming an uneasy alliance. Namora wasn't happy with her King's decision, but he reminded her that Wakanda has no allies and would eventually be forced to fight alongside Talokan.

That's a plot point likely to be touched on in Avengers: Doomsday, as the site reveals, "Shuri and M'Baku will seek Namor's help in [the movie], building upon the lore of the two nations and the personal relationship/tension between Shuri and Namor."

"Namor may be forced to bend the knee once again, but this time towards another ruler [to] save his people," the site adds, suggesting Namor will ally with Doctor Doom, which they later suggest could hurt his standing with both Shuri and his people.

Finally, it's said that Angela Bassett is expected to reprise her role as Queen Ramonda. There's no word on what she'll bring to the story, though it sounds like the Ancestral Plane will have a much bigger role in Black Panther 3, so that may be the answer.

"I’ll give you the real scoop. We hadn’t started a search yet," Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige previously said of casting Jonsson. "Ryan was working on Sinners, and when Ryan works on a project he’s all in. So the presumption very much was we would sit with him after Sinners came out, after the Academy campaign. We were waiting ’til after the Academy Awards to sit with Ryan and begin that process."

"A month and a half or so before that process, he called me and said, 'I found him.' I said, 'What do you mean?' He goes, 'I found him. He’s this guy, David Jonsson.' He mentioned his movies. I had seen some of them. I watched more. He goes, 'I’m going to meet him.' He had a secret meeting with him under the cloak of darkness in a hotel somewhere."

"He called me afterwards and said, 'He’s the guy, he’s the guy, I felt it. I felt it in my soul. He’s a good man, and he is the next Black Panther,'" Feige continued. "And I got chills, and I got a little welled-up and said, 'Let’s do it.' So we’ve been sitting on this secret for a good five or six months."

Black Panther 3 will be released in theaters on December 15, 2028.

How about bringing back Klaw since you killed him off way too soon in the first movie?

@soberchimera - I'd prefer we see a "Legion Klaw," based on the sonic technology of Ulysses' arm. These are cyborgs who act as field soldiers, part of an international agreement between the DODC and the African continent.

I would be down for more Namor since I liked him in Wakanda Forever!!.

Also I like the idea of him having allied with Doom in Doomsday since the latter could have promised him and his people a place in his new world hence he joins his side rather then the heroes which we seem to have seen a bit of in the teaser aswell…

It feels very fitting for the character who traditionally oscillates between a villain/anti-hero depending on the circumstances so since he would be moreso the former in Wakanda Forever & Doomsday , I could see him be in a bit more of a heroic light in BP 3 if he’s indeed in it!!.

@TheVisionary25 - namor is fine. I just don’t want them to turn black panther into a pseudo franchise for namor , he interacts more with the fantastic 4 have him pop up there next we just saw him in black panther 2 or give him a solo movie/ special presentation
TheVisionary25
TheVisionary25 - 8/11/2026, 10:49 AM
@ShimmyShimmyYA - that’s fair and I don’t think they will but we’ll see

I could see him showing up in a FF sequel but he still does have history with Wakanda and Black Panther in the comics.

@TheVisionary25 - I trust coogler so we’ll I also just seeing recent events / cancellations don’t want them to start using BP as a cover for non - white characters just personally , there’s enough room to make movies/ specials for them all we don’t need Thor 5 and Ant man 4

I think that Ryan Coogler is making some creative choices he may live to regret. The casting of Tchalla I think should have been better thought out. I am not sure that a retread of Namor is going to be a draw and word has it Jayme Lawson is indeed playing Storm which again visually does not work well with this X-men team.

@Forthas - I hadn't heard that about Jayme Lawson as Storm. I actually like that choice.

@Patient2670 - It is just a rumor at this point but an youtube scooper stated it was a done deal. She is not my pick, but I would not be surprised if it was Lawson.

@Forthas - I don’t get the visually part
Forthas
Forthas - 8/11/2026, 2:35 PM
@ShimmyShimmyYA - She is 5'6' -read short- when Storm is listed as 5'11. AND for whatever reason, Lawson looks older than what she is listed as. I am not sure why...maybe she is lying about her age. But she has NEVER been cast as a teenager. She consistently plays adult women so the "visual" part is the disconnect with the VERY young cast of the X-Men. So far...

ShimmyShimmyYA
ShimmyShimmyYA - 8/11/2026, 7:10 PM
@Forthas - but isn’t storm usually slightly older than the others anyway ? I’m not pro or for the casting but there’s not a lot of tall actresses tbh and it’s movies they can use camera tricks if need be happens all the time
Forthas
Forthas - 8/12/2026, 11:39 AM
@ShimmyShimmyYA - I think there are tall actresses Jessica Allain (5'9"), Ella Balinska (5'11) and Laura Kariuki (5'10). The problem is, I think that since Coogler has a relationship with Lawson, and to be honest, she is an excellent actress, actresses who better fit the role will be overlooked when they should be seriously considered. Halle Berry is an Oscar-winning actress, and while she did OK for what was given to her, she was not the best fit for Storm, in my opinion.

Nothing about what Denzel's character or role will be?

What sort of a scoop is this, even?
Repian
Repian - 8/11/2026, 3:45 PM
@spr0cks - Denzel Washington to play Achebe. He could be a false prophet who, through Ororo Munroe, plagues Wakanda with a series of weather-related "plagues" such as floods and powerful storms, humiliating Wakanda's idols. In this way, he divides the people, gaining followers willing to fight for the goddess.
