BLACK ADAM Star Dwayne Johnson Praises THE BATMAN Actor Barry Keoghan's "Phenomenal" Joker

It sounds like Dwayne Johnson might want to see Barry Keoghan's Joker make the jump to the DCEU. During a new interview, the Black Adam star was full of praise for The Batman actor's take...

Dwayne Johnson was reportedly integral to Henry Cavill making his long-awaited return as Superman in Black Adam, and it sounds like the highly-influential actor may have set his sights on a slightly more complicated challenge.

While speaking to Irish site about working with the legendary Pierce Brosnan (Doctor Fate) in the DC Comics movie, Johnson mentions that he's also a huge fan of Barry Keoghan's, and seemingly hints that he'd like to see the Eternals star's take on The Joker in a future Black Adam movie.

"For the record: Barry Keoghan is a buddy of mine, and I thought his Joker was phenomenal. And I know the work that he really put in, so I really look forward to seeing more of that guy! Whether in the Batman series or... hey, you never know, in Black Adam."

We obviously shouldn't read too much into this, as Johnson is clearly just contemplating the possibility here - still, it is interesting that Keoghan's iteration of the iconic Batman villain is the one he'd most like to see share the screen with the Man in Black.

Matt Reeves' The Batman is not set in the established DCEU, but, just like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness featured an appearance from Patrick Stewart's Professor X, the introduction of a DC Multiverse in The Flash movie could theoretically open the door to some kind of crossover down the line.

Keoghan only made a brief cameo as The Joker in the final moments of The Batman (though a longer deleted scene was later released), and we're still not sure if he's set to reprise the role for the planned sequel.

"From New Line Cinema, Dwayne Johnson stars in the action adventure Black Adam. The first-ever feature film to explore the story of the DC Super Hero comes to the big screen under the direction of Jaume Collet-Serra (“Jungle Cruise”). Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods— and imprisoned just as quickly—Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world."

Johnson stars alongside Aldis Hodge (City on a Hill, One Night in Miami) as Hawkman, Noah Centineo (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before) as Atom Smasher, Sarah Shahi (Sex/Life, Rush Hour 3) as Adrianna, Marwan Kenzari (Murder on the Orient Express, The Mummy) as Ishmael, Quintessa Swindell (Voyagers, Trinkets) as Cyclone, Bodhi Sabongui (A Million Little Things) as Amon, and Pierce Brosnan (the Mamma Mia! and James Bond franchises) as Dr. Fate.

Black Adam is now in theaters.
