BLADE Reboot Reportedly Looking For An Actress To Play Faiza Hussain, AKA Excalibur

A casting call has gone out for what's believed to be Marvel Studios' upcoming Blade reboot, and it looks like the movie will introduce Dane Whitman's love interest Faiza Hussain, aka Excalibur.

Eternals' post-credits scene introduced Mahershala Ali's new take on Blade (offscreen) as he dropped by to offer guidance to Dane Whitman (Kit Harington), who was about to take up the Ebony Blade. This obviously hinted at a Blade/Black Knight team-up down the line, and it sounds like Marvel Studios' upcoming reboot may also introduce Whitman's love interest.

A casting call has gone out for an upcoming MCU project, which they guys over at Knight Edge Media believe to be Blade. The studio is searching for a North African Actress who speaks French (20-40s) to play a character named FAIZA, who is described as a "tough and agile fighter with a strong presence and a talker who never backs down". Potential candidates for the role "must be open to training period beforehand. Actors with fight experience are encouraged to submit."

This is almost certainly Dr. Faiza Hussain, a Muslim woman who wielded Excalibur and eventually adopted the codename of King Arthur's legendary sword when she became an agent of MI13. Hussain met Dane Whitman during the Skrull invasion of Earth and the two eventually embarked on a relationship. Faiza would go on to battle many foes alongside the likes of Doctor Strange and Captain Britain, including Dracula. Could this be the thread that connects the character to the Day Walker in the movie?

The project is also casting actors to play HUNTLEY ("40s-60s, Formidable and overly sophisticated, most people think he takes himself too seriously"), and ABID ("20s-30s, male, South Asian. Strong, burly, and lightweight. Though he’s taken a vow of silence, his eyes tell us he has been through strife.")

What do you guys make of this? Will Blade introduce an entire team of vampire hunters? Be sure to share your theories in the comments.

I really like where this is going. I initially wanted a Captain Britain and MI13 projects, but now I just kinda want a Blade and MI13 project (still with Captain Britain and Black Knight though)

@bkmeijer - I wonder if this means they’re gonna make Blade have his British accent…

I like the MI13 seeds being planted. And Excalibur is a legendary vampire slaying weapon in the comics.

Blade could be recruiting his own slayers.

This is gonna be a bloodless watered down PG-13 kids comedy that's more likely gonna ruin Blade, going the same route as Morbius they even refuse to acknowledge his title of "The living vampire" which is what he is even if it is from reverse science. God I absolutely abhor Disney, Kevin Feige & Avi Arad F**k all of them.

@John456 - Is it just me or dad the vampire deaths on part two and three change from bloody explosions to fiery CGI? Did it change ratings or something? I haven’t revisited the movies since the 2000s

@John456 - PG-13 Blade is pointless.

Blade is an R-Rated character.

When you put them in a PG setting you get a movie like Venom 2 where a character like Carnage who is scaled back or a crime boss getting beat up by a 21 year old girl. it just doesn't work.
