Though they were never big hits with the critics, the Blade movies (well, the first two) are considered classics by many fans, and a lot of people were hoping to see Wesley Snipes reprise the role for the planned Marvel Studios reboot.
Of course, we now know that Mahershala Ali (Luke Cage, Green Book) will take over as the Daywalker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Snipes has taken to social media to show support for the Academy Award-winner.
When a fan wished Ali luck in the role before adding that "he’s gonna have a hard time outdoing Wesley Snipes," the Demolition Man star gave a brief, but encouraging response: "He will do great."
Spoilers follow.
We're sure many of you have seen Eternals at this stage, but if you haven't, best stop reading now.
Ali actually made his (offscreen) MCU debut as Blade in the post-credits scene of Eternals when he dropped by to offer guidance to Dane Whitman (Kit Harington), who was about to take up the Ebony Blade. This obviously hints at a Blade/Black Knight team-up down the line, but the Daywalker is also rumored to show up in the Moon Knight Disney+ series.
We might just get an update during today's Disney+ Day presentation, so be sure to keep an eye out.
