Sony Pictures has officially commenced production on Bloodshot, their upcoming Valiant Comics adaptation that will star Vin Diesel (Fast and the Furious; Avengers: Infinity War) in the title role.

Dave Wilson, who is best known for his VFX work on Avengers: Age of Ultron and for directing the video game The Division, is helming the upcoming comic book movie with a script from Eric Heisserer (Arrival) and Jeff Wadlow (Truth or Dare).

Sony has slated the movie for a February 21, 2020 release date.

On another note, Deadline is reporting that Lamorne Morris (New Girl) has joined the cast as Wilfred Wigans, a young scientist who becomes Bloodshot's unlikely ally. In addition to Diesel, he joins a cast that will also feature Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver), Michael Sheen (Masters of Sex), Sam Heughan (The Spy Who Dumped Me), Talulah Riley (Westworld), Alex Hernandez (UnREAL), and Toby Kebbell (Kong: Skull Island).

Bloodshot sounds a lot like Jason Bourne and I don't think that's a good thing for the movie in terms of critic reviews.

Please, please, please be good. Bloodshot is such a great character and I would love to see a Valiant shared universe on the big screen.

@Pantherpool - How does one cry in bisexual? I’m actually curious, because I’m bi. Lol. Is that like when you can’t have either because you want both? Lol

If they are gonna build a universe with Valiant imo I think they should have started with X-O or Eternal Warrior

@TheBlueMorpho - I think Bloodshot makes perfect sense. Perhaps the most popular of the Valiant heroes and one whose movie shouldn’t break the bank. X-O Manowar would have been great to see but his movie would require a much larger budget so I think if Bloodshot goes well that will embolden them to make a great X-O Manowar movie.

@TheUnworthyThor -

How do you feel about Eternal Warrior? Now I might be biased because my introduction into Valiant several years ago were with X-O, Eternal Warrior and Ninjak. So thatś who I want to see the most

@TheBlueMorpho - I really like the character but I think he is a bit too generic looking (and sounding) to start a cinematic universe with.

@TheBlueMorpho - Dr Mirage might have been a good way to go. Light hearted and funny with a basic love story at its center. Both Bloodshot and X-O are going to get Wolverine and Iron Man comparisons. Archer and Armstrong wouldve been a good way as well.

Is Vin still fat or is that just his Fast and Furious character?
