AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Star Chris Evans May Not Be Willing To Remain On As CAPTAIN AMERICA After All

Chris Evans recently made some comments which gave fans hope that we could see him suit up as the star-spangled Avenger well into Phase 4, but he's now made it clear that "nothing lasts forever."

We all know that Chris Evans' contract with Marvel Studios is nearing an end and the actor has gone back and fore on whether or not he'll be staying on as Steve Rogers/Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He recently provided something of a positive update on that but in a new interview with USA Today appears to have backtracked somewhat on his future as the hero.

"I’d be lying if I said it wouldn’t be hard for me," Evans admitted when asked about moving on from the role. "But the passing of time and the passing of torches is part of the experience. Nothing lasts forever. There’s a beauty in that departure, even if it can be sad at times. It’s also joyful. I’ve had a great run. Superheroes are
reinventable entities, like Batman or even James Bond. These movies find new incarnations and new ways to tell the story. I am all for it. However they want to proceed after ‘Avengers 4,’ it’s really up to them. I walk away with no regrets and endlessly thankful."

There's a very good chance that what we're seeing here is Evans essentially negotiating his new contract in public. It's obvious fans
want him to stay on as Captain America, while the fact he's starred in a series of highly successful solo movies and is part of The Avengers franchise gives him tremendous bargaining power when it comes to getting a new deal from Marvel which will increase his earnings!

We'll have to wait and see how things pan out - we don't even know if Cap survives Avengers: Infinity War - but you can let us know what you'd like to see
from the hero's future in the comments section.

@SuperCat - I mean, can ya blame him? Its a tough choice. This has been something that's REDEFINED and SHAPED his life the last 6 years. Its given him a wonderful career so I'm sure he's flip flopping a lot as he considers everything. I'd do the same.

@EpitomeofAwesome - Anyone can be replaced, is the natural of the business

He will be back, i'm sure of it. If Jackman can do it for almost 20 years, Evans can, and has said he is willing to over and over. Just on Marvel to have the same interest and keep making the movies good.

He's still open to the idea.
What he's saying is that he has no idea whether they will bring him back or not and it's also trying not to spoil Infinity War's ending(maybe his character dies or something) so of course he's going to sound vague and or undecided about the whole playing-the-character-again thing.

I hope he at least comes back very once and a while. He does t need a full movi anymore, but the occasional cameo/supporting role to show he's still around would be nice. Whatever is decided, Chris, you wee fantastic as cap. And we'll miss you
