-The August numbers are so impressive, in fact, that Diamond Comic Distributers, which normally avoids posting exact figures, opting instead for market perentages, broke with their standard to announce that they had shipped "over 10 million non-promotional books" in the month of August, a number that hadn't been reached in nearly 20 years, specifically December 1996!
-In a seperate, independent sales report by Comichron, it is shown that the post-Rebirth sales explosion is in fact significantly different from DC's last major relaunch, the controversial New 52. The comics world in general is now in a far more stable position than 2011, when the reboot commenced, and the staggered release nature of Rebirth adds to the strong potential for continued peak sales. All in all, it looks like 2016 is set to continue the current five-year growth streak in Direct Market Sales.
-In individual issue sales, DC holds 9 of the Top 10 spots, a far cry from Marvel's recent domination of the charts. Also worth noting is the presence of Supergirl at #10, her high debut likely riding on support from the popular television show, which moved onto the CW for the upcoming second season:
#1 Harley Quinn #1
#2 All-Star Batman #1
#3 Suicide Squad #1
#4 Amazing Spider-man #16
#5 Suicide Squad Rebirth #1
#6 Batman #4
#7 Batman #5
#8 Justice League #2
#9 Harley Quinn #2
#10 Supergirl Rebirth #1
-All spoken for, the recent data holds good news for all comic publishers, contnuing an upswing in sales across the board. But the big story remains Rebirth, it will be quite interesting to see how the sales continue as the Rebirth titles keep coming in the following months, and Marvel gears up it's own "Marvel NOW" rebranding.
