COMICS: Jason Latour & Robbi Rodriguez To Launch New SPIDER-GWEN Series

The creation of Spider-Gwen was one of the biggest stories of 2014, so it's no surprise to learn that Marvel intend to keep the character in the spotlight post-Secret Wars. Check out the first details on the relaunched title from existing creative team of Jason Latour and Robbi Rodriguez.

When this month's Spider-Gwen #5 concluded with a Secret Wars teaser, many were left unsure about the future of the runaway hit character. The All-New, All-Different promo images Marvel unveiled several weeks ago confirmed that Gwen wasn't going anywhere, and today, IGN have revealed Spider-Gwen will be relaunched with a new #1 from co-creators Jason Latour and Robbi Rodriguez. Latour explains that "the main focus of our first arc is on Gwen Stacy's continuing adventures within her own universe (Earth 65), it's pretty essential to who this Gwen Stacy is to have her own supporting cast and villains and problems. But Spider-Gwen was born out of a multiversal crossover event so the opportunity to hop around has always been present and honestly is just too fun to resist. So yeah, bouncing over to the 616 now and then is something we’re eager to explore too." He further explains that this relaunched title aims to be a jumping-on point for new readers, as well as a continuation for existing readers, with the first arc offering "a new twist on a very popular and familiar hero". Will you be picking up the all-new Spider-Gwen #1 when it hits shelves this Fall?

Right so there is more than one universe after Secret Wars? So why couldn't Miles have just stayed put also?

Marvel has to be crack or something. After just 5 issues, they are relaunching Spider-Gwen? WTF!

@Parkerluckpersonified Yeah I was thinking the exact same thing. I thought it was supposed to simplify things! I love Spider Gwen and I was hoping to see her purely in the main continuity after secret Wars.

"Spider-Gwen" is it now--??
What an 'effin load of rubbish...
I'd LOVE to meet the person who hires creatives at Marvel. Anybody have a name??

Just take one of the greatest love stories of the Sixties (Gwen and Peter), take YEARS to build to a climax and lose her. Yeah, guys, just s**t on everything that Stan and other PROFESSIONAL WRITERS built.
Man, what a load of utter CRAP is coming out of Marvel these days. They just don't know what the f(lick) to do anymore...
They should just close the doors and call it a day.
Marvel died in the seventies. What you see now is just a fan-based putrid, festering corpse going through its final death throws.
That HAS to be the only explanation.
