COMICS: Will SUPERMAN's Secret Identity Be Revealed To The World This June?

Clark Kent recently revealed to Jimmy Olsen that he and Superman are one and the same, and while we've yet to see the fallout of that decision, the solicitation text and cover art for the Man of Steel's ongoing series this June seems to indicate that everyone will soon discover his big secret...

The epic new story line “TRUTH” continues with the debut of the amazing new creative team of new writer Gene Luen Yang ("American Born Chinese") and continuing artists John Romita Jr. and Klaus Janson! What will happen when the big secret is revealed?

SUPERMAN # 41

So, whatever the "big secret" is, it sounds like DC Comics weren't lying when they said that big status quo changes are on the way for both Superman and Batman. New writer Gene Luen Yang (who is a multiple Eisner Award winner) wasnt willing to give anything away in a recent interview with Hero Complex, but did have this to say about his take on the Man of Steel. "Superman has been around for so long; he's been around for, what, eight decades now? And he goes through these different eras where different aspects of who he is get emphasized. I think at the core of him is the idea of the immigrant experience. His creators were two children of Jewish immigrants. And embedded in his origin story is this idea of negotiating between two cultures and trying to take two halves of himself and create something that's whole and unified. I'm hoping what will happen is as we build our narrative, that aspect will come out organically." What do you think?

I used to be a fan of JRJr but his style has gotten too loose over the last 10 years. His faces, in particular, are just not aesthetically pleasing at all. Weird rectangular fingers too.

@OncomingStorm It wouldn't be a surprise if they did that. They already ruined one of Superman's marriage with time travel why not do it again?

I can't read this comic while JRJR is on it. His drawings look like they were done by a bored 7th grader in Social Studies class.

He completely skates by in that industry because of who his father was. His drawings are as bad, if not worse, than Rob Liefeld's. They actually have many of the same shortcomings. The difference is that Liefeld's drawings have a comedic charm (albeit, unintentional) that everyone recognizes, including Liefeld himself. Conversely, JRJR has amassed a small, but fanatical fan-base that heap praise on his atrocious drawings as they belong on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

I can only hope that he develops some kind of debilitating arthritis in his hands so that the comic world is rid of him for good, although it won't be soon enough even if it happens today.

Should've seen this coming since Ma and Pa are dead. Besides Lana, he has no other ties to Smallville. Doesn't even own the family farm.

Nothing they do will salvage the shit-show the comic has been for the last few years.

Interesting, shame Romita's still on board though; shy of that initial Superman cover he did, every other time he draws Big Blue, it just looks lacklustre.

Speaking of shame though, is Geoff Johns off Superman as well now then?
