I hope the whole up in the sky thing is just a way to bring in readers because if he can actually fly now him and Namor are just the same.

art looks nice but that cover's off... his right arm is weird and that big warren beatty mouth makes him look like a different guy than the guy inside the book. i hate when that happens... it's the same artist doing the cover so why does he look so different?

I agree. We do need to see an Aquaman movie being developed soon.

Aqua-Fresh-man may be a joke but that art is a thing of beauty!

Thought he was getting a beard? Or did he already get it and lose it again? Either way, Aquaman needs a beard, helps him be more badass lol.

@MrDonut-Nera made him shave it and please Awuaman doesn't need a beard to be badass, it just slows him down

Just read it and the issue is pretty damn good. It's not johns but I can tell the story is still going to be fun and yes the cover speaks the truth, Aquaman is launched into the stratosphere...and he comes down like a boss

@SpideyQuad where have you been? Aquaman hasn't been a joke in the comic community for a long time now

This character has been crap for decades. With every reboot of a new universe DC manage to con people into buying he remains the same nonsensical character with the corny name and cheesy costume with 17th century style gloves and a pitch fork!

The bearded Aquaman with the techno hand was about as good as they ever got with this character in terms of actually progressing him out of the 1940's. I'd love them to make a movie of this just to see how hard it flops for being out of touch with basic common sense as well as the new millennium.

I have got new found respect for the character since the New 52 but just prefer bum with a bears; sort of really sells the whole badass sea king look for me lol... But missed a few issues so wasn't to clear on the whole beard issue lol.

@CJ we all know that costumes need fixing for movies (though if captain america managed, aquaman can too). we all know that comic names are cheesy. (wonder woman? seriously? how about silver surfer? please...)

and there are plenty of other snooty superior know-it-alls like you on this site (myself definitely included) that know the character well and realize that the tacked-on pseudo-badassery of the shirtless cap'n hook era was thoroughly and completely LAME.

aquaman is a joke because people think of the superfriends version with aqualad and the stupid seahorse, not because the character is out of touch... and then it just became cool to hate on him because people are sheep. take the glitter off the shirt and shoot the whole movie in blue tones with a stormy sky. it'll be fine.

i did like the long hair and beard though; it made him look more "ancient civilization-y" and when they drew it well it looked awesome underwater.

That orange and green costume is never going to work. They need to take Aquaman back to his roots. There's so much potential to tie it into mythology that people actually care about.
It might be time to retire him for a while and bring in some fresh Aquablood. I can imagine a storyline where he is replaced by an Atlantean king from 2000 years ago. Then they could use that character to retell the origin of Atantis when it was land-based. And such a character could make a compelling new villain in the long run. Like an underwater version of Knightfall. It doesn't matter what a great job Geoff Johns did pulling the humor out of it all; building on the current mythology is never going to build a big fanbase.

aquanam is god! Plus he's not flying just jumping out of the water... Its pretty obvious from the cover.

hm just read the issue and the faces thing isn't just the cover... his people kind of don't look the same all the time. especially the women. but whatever he's sure as hell a lot better than me so i'm not complaining; everything else about the atwork is great.

I gotta admit that flash point flick changed my view of Aquaman the way he kicked wonderwoman's ass
Still Prince Namor would kick his ass all up and down Atlantis

@jonedc You're funny

@rabid Seriously? They adapted the walking, talking flag known as captain america into a movie I'm sure that Aquaman won't be a problem. Have you even read Aquaman? It delves into the mythology you speak of and the outfit Aquaman wears is royal Atlantian attire, not some stupid costume. Do research so you don't look stupid

@rabid your aware that his original colors are this. Golden Age: Orange/Green/Yellow.. Just darken the colors like MOS and explain the suit origin. Goku, Scorpion, Naruto, Aquaman best bad@sses in orange.
