Doomsday Clock is shaping up to be the biggest comic book event of all-time as Superman, Lex Luthor, and the Justice League all come face to face with characters from the world of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' Watchmen. In this new trailer for the series, writer and DC Films President Geoff Johns weighs in on how the story comes to be and reveals more about what we should expect from the story.

"It's unlike any story I've ever written, and any story [artist Gary Frank has] ever drawn," Johns says of the 12-issue comic book which takes place a year in the future of the DC Comics Universe. "Both of us were, rightly so, nervous about it. We want to do our own thing, but play into some of the structural tenets that [Watchmen] created, some of the dynamics and some of the tones it created."

More details can be found below and we'll obviously bring you more on this tale as we have it. Are you excited to see these worlds collide? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below.

The real question is whether or not Dr. Manhattan's little Manhattan will return.

@IronGenesis - i mean half the cast of the movie is in the dceu so they actually could do it as Watchmen being an alternate reality so yeah, plus hey... Flash has blue lightning that looks very similar to the Doctor manhattan effect in the film and Billy Crudup is playing Barry's dad

@Ha1frican

Dr. Manhattan could easily transform Bruce Wayne from looking like Ben affleck into Armie hammer. ;-p

@IronGenesis - If they are going to switch (which i really hope they dont) I say Jon Hamm for Batman

@IronGenesis - Not really a problem if its parallel universe or they say that Doctor Manhattan when shaping this reality used experiences and people he knew as a framework. I mean of course hed use Jon Osterman as blueprint of the father of the character that has power over space-time in Barry, or Donald Blake as a man who was gunned down in warrantless violence creating an ultraviolent vigilante

@IronGenesis - If anything it would be one of the direct to DVD animated movies. Not that I'd have a problem with it if it's the same level of quality as Flashpoint was.

@RasAlGhul -
The problem with cinematic universes is that they're trying to be something they're not... which is tv shows in film format. Films should strive to be films first before anything else or you risk compromising the film's full potential in order to fit a certain formula. When I go to the theaters to see a film, I want the people behind the scenes to have presented me with their best work possible. I don't want compromised/formulaic or subpar work.

@RasAlGhul -

I feel like WB should have just stuck to creating solo film trilogies for their most recognizable characters with such innovating directors as Christopher Nolan. You can really tell that Chris cares about his work. He doesn't seem like the type of guy that would just mail it in. WB should have tried to get more directors like him for their main characters and then used their HBO platform for their lesser known characters. But the unfortunate success of the MCU tempted WB to go a different route.
