As "Rise of the Third Army" continues, Geoff Johns has already plotted out the next big Green Lantern crossover; February's "Wrath of the First Lantern". According to USA Today, the arc will focus on the mysterious character and his role in the fates of Hal Jordan, Sinestro, John Stewart, Guy Gardner and Simon Baz. "I don't want to say he's a villain or a hero," teased the writer. "He's just a being who's targeting our main lanterns, our guys, to see if there's a way that maybe the universe could improve if they made different choices in their lives."

It sounds as if this will be a much more personal story that the current crossover as the First Lantern apparently plots to "take a look at every one of our heroes and main characters and really tear their life apart and rip them open in a way we've never seen before on a very cosmic scale." The "very different ancient powerful character" will be explored in great detail during the storyline which also promises to once again shake up the Green Lantern mythos. "What he's doing and what his ultimate goal will be is going to tie into the very beginnings of the Corps and ultimately reveal where the Corps is going to go."

Look, everyone knows that The First Lantern is the Rainbow Raider. Johns has been building up to this for years. ;)

It seems like Geoff Johns will give us more insight on the backstory of Simon Baz.

Green Lantern continues to be my most anticipated title coming from DC with Batman as a VERY close second (I've read every GL issue since 2003 so I'm a little biased)
