In a report over at USA Today, it has been confirmed that the "Trinity War" crossover will take place in the three core titles featuring the DC Universe's various superhero teams. Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis will continue working together on Justice League, while the writer will team with both Jeff Lemire and Doug Mahnke on Justice League of America. Lemire will remain on Justice League Dark with Mikel Janin. The event will be sparked by the death of a hero and will run through a total of six issues across July and August. "We really want to find and carve out the Justice League corner of the DC Universe," Johns says. "It is a universe all itself with these three teams, and it feels big enough to be worthy of a Justice League story. It's going to be really interesting when these characters do come together, because some of them haven't met, some of them have, and what happens and unfolds in this is going to force them to choose sides."

Described as an action mystery by the writer, a lot of "Trinity War" will focus on the Trinity of Sin (Pandora, Phantom Stranger and the Question) and a mysterious artefact which was first spotted in last year's Free Comic Book Day offering from DC. While the event will of course focus on a lot of the A-List characters like Batman and Green Arrow, Johns said to expect to see the likes of Atom and Element Woman also playing pivotal roles, not to mention Shazam. "He's got no allegiance to anybody and you'll see him come into conflict with Superman in a very big way." While this promises to be an epic event, "Trinity War" will simply act as a precursor for a much larger threat. ""It's not going to end wrapped up in a bow. Something really, really major happens that kicks off some pretty crazy stuff at the end of August."

Nice, really excited for this, also glad its only a six issue event.

Usually they tend to drag on these big events into 10-12 issues, six issues means it should move at a good pace.

I wonder who dies though since I count all members of all three teams in the amazing pic above.

I'll bet we get a Shazam ongoing spiralling out of these events.
"Death of a hero"? puzzled.

Maybe this "Death" was when John Stewart was meant to die?

Sound good, and look forward to it, but my god DC... this new 52 has ruined something for me. You killed vertigo and more importantly you killed Hellblazer and John Constantine. Yeah, I know he's in Justice League Dark, but he no longer has his stand-alone title. Hellblazer ran for so long, and had such great writers and some good artists featured on it's decades long run that it's just a damn shame that it was put down. DC really angered me with this move.

DC has their own trinity of teams now. Just like marvel has avengers, x-men, and fantastic 4

When I first heard 'Trinity War', I thought Dc would have Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman clash, and everyone else would have to pick sides. That's the DC Trinity. Trinity War.

Man am I disappointed. That would have been beyond epic.

I am very confused with what they've been doing with Question (seen most recently in Phantom Stranger). There's been some tremendous artists in DC... seems to be more than Marvel, but wooooo new52 remains undesirable in a very big way.

I so hate this "it's awesome because we havent seen this happen again, yet" bs. The fact That the new52's sole attraction is that we havent seen heroes meet yet (which previous to the reboot was something taken for granted) is really sad.

And whats worse, "the death of a hero" sets this off, crap... You mean like identity crisis? Oh wait, never mind, its cool because THAT hasnt happened in the new 52 yet :rolls eyes:

Ah, f@ck DC. Im sooo not reading this.

"Really? The Question? Not the Spectre?"

The Question is a part of the trinity of Sin. In the new52, Jim Corrigan due to the actions of the Phantom Strange became the Spectre. He is no longer some ancient angel or whatever. Just some meta supernatural being.
