COMICS: Scott Snyder Teases The Riddler's Introduction To "The New 52"

Batman writer Scott Snyder has wrapped up his "Night of the Owls" arc, and as soon as he's done with bringing back The Joker this Fall, he now looks set to reintroduce The Riddler to the DC Universe in "The New 52" continuity.

Batman and Swamp-Thing writer Scott Snyder often answers fan questions via his Twitter account (@Ssnyder1835), although the Tweets below have confirmed a particularly interesting piece of information. The Riddler will make his debut in "The New 52" universe next year. Although he and Greg Capullo will be bringing back a new-look Joker this Fall, the main Batman title hasn't used any of the Caped Crusader's classic villains just yet, so it will be exciting to see what the writer has in store for the villain who once deduced that Bruce Wayne is Batman. I didnt like that he was bald with a question mark shaved on his head but I hope that was just his look while he was in Arlham.

They were building Riddler back up for something in the Bat-titles, then the relaunch hit. Happy Mr. Nigma is coming back. Def my favorite villain.

Scott said he had a Two-Face story to tell too, dunno if that is before or after the Riddler story or when it is tho.

I really like the Riddler but he's never had a real crowning moment. I hope Scott Snyder writes THE Riddler story.

I really hope the Riddler is made like a real threat. There a lot of Batman arcs that seem to depict the Riddler as practically harmless, and primarily there for comic relief. I would love to see the Riddler akin to his Arkham City version. He was actually kind of scary.

One thing I like about the Riddler is that it tends to bring out the Detective side of Batman more than his other villians. Batman suppose to be the worlds best detective yet a lot of the stories he never gets to flex his brain muscle in that area. Much of it he is just a brawler.

I wish when the reboot happened Two-Face went back to being DA Harvey Dent . . . To recapture some that awesome Gordon-Batman-Dent magic seen in TDK. Let him sit for a couple of years then had Snyder (in all his glory) tell his vision of the fall of Dent.

Instead we got that abortion from the first arc of Batman: The Dark Knight. Oh well . . .

I like the contrast of the joker and the riddler. One is an unpredictable psychopath with no real endgame.
The other is a predictable yet very cunning genius who's agendas vary depending if it is beneficialinthe end.
Both test batmans intellect in different ways.

Riddler needs an upgrade. Should treat him like a criminal mastermind. Like Moriaty from Sherlock Holmes with a riddle fetish.

you are 100% right. hush wasn't his story, and we have yet to see a modern defining tale about nygma. i feel snyder's the guy to bring it on. like make it a real mind-bending head-trip. not just your typical read-through, but maybe even play with the concept of storytelling.

not top preach nolan every time the bat-world is brought up, but what if we got something that was to comics what 'Momento' was to films: not necessarily a straightforward story. something that you have to read several times in order to dig out everything. in fact now im kinda praying it'll be something like that. if nygma is one of the more cerebral villains, it'd be great to get an above average intelligence an executed tale.

adding to my thought, some sort of 'who-dunnit', where we the reader are in the dark as much as the characters in the book are. no 'omniscient' knowledge allowed.
