Will Smith A.K.A Big Willie from Philly one time Hollywood's biggest box office draw may be returning to form as his new movie 'Focus' beats out '50 Shades of Grey' and claims the number one spot in theaters over the weekend. Perfect timing for Will to get hot again as the up and coming DC/ Warner Bros. film 'Suicide Squad' is gearing up to go into production. 'Suicide Squad' is slated for a 2016 Summer release. Will Smith is the Michael Jordan of Summer Time blockbuster hits. Remember when 'Independence Day' lit up fourth of July weekend? Here comes the Man in Black, then add David Ayers the director of 'Fury', and 'End of Watch' just to name a few. The hype around 'Suicide Squad' is going to be unreal. David Ayers will add a dark and dangerous feel to the film. Will Smith will be paired once again with his co-star Margot Robbie as she is cast as Harley Quinn. DeadShot and Harley Quinn have a bunch of chemistry with each other in the comics (basically DeadShot hit The Joker's girl) and there are rumors about Smith and Robbie already. The two co-stars spoke about not seeing David Ayers Suicide Squad script yet. Here is what they said.
“It’s really cool the way that David Ayer works is all images, all ideas” he explained. “He holds [back] the screenplay and he just keeps giving you things about your character – he just wants you to be prepared for anything. He only sends you your character stuff so you don’t know what’s going on with the other characters. I think he wants it to come alive on set.”
Will Smith and Margot Robbie in Focus. The two will re-team for Suicide Squad.
It sounds like his morally questionable Focus role is helping Smith to prepare however “The issue with my character in Focus is that he is committed to lying. He is committed to wearing a mask and no one ever knowing who he is. The idea in the film is that you can’t have love if you’re lying. You can’t have that thing that we all search for if you can’t be authentic and living without the mask. So morally, he’s made a decision that being a liar is the only way he can survive. He protects himself.”
As for Deadshot himself, Smith says he still has work to do on the character. “I haven’t yet explored the psychology enough of Deadshot – somebody who can take money to kill people, how he justifies that for himself. But in my life in general and in my career, I’m pushing more towards those kinds of questions. I guess I like the concept of dubious morals. I always like to play in that area. What was interesting for me with Focus, now, is that in my life my journey is around vulnerability and authenticity. So to have a guy who has just decided to lie… it was really interesting to test the boundaries of how wide open and how authentic I can be in real life by exploring the other side of a character.” (courtesy of ign.com)
The two co-stars work really well together on and off screen. Their relationship has even made the tabloids. Okay...maybe they work too well together!
She didn't even have to audition for the role of Harley Quinn with Big Willie on her side!
MTV’s Josh Horowitz caught up with Margot Robbie while she was promoting her new movie Focus, but naturally, Suicide Squad came up as well. When asked what the audition process was like, Robbie revealed that she didn’t even need to audition for the role of Harley Quinn! “I actually got offered this one, I didn’t audition, which is a real step up as an actor when you can get offered things,” Robbie said.

I'm just saying, she is a talented young actress and 'Focus' and 'The Suicide Squad' are both Warner Bros. movies. DC and Warner Bros. are happily married lol. I'm just saying! DC Warner Bros. aren't playing any games with their up and coming movies. They are putting their money where their mouth is with an impressive cast of stars to portray their characters. Jason Momoa, The Rock, Jared Leto, and Viola Davis, we haven't even gotten to Ben Affleck yet. Can you imagine the scenes with him and Will Smith...Incredible! Will Smith is big enough to take DeadShot a small time Batman Villian and make him a big time comic book anti-hero, good and a bad guy at the same time, he didn't come over for a small part trust me! This is gonna be something special. I can't believe DC landed Will Smith now let's see what they do with him! Warner Bros. movie executives are gushing over Will Smith's star power.
But Warner Bros said Focus, which was made for about $50m (£32.5m), was only predicted to take about $21m (£13.6m) in its opening weekend.
"This is a mid-budgeted film with a result that matches," Warner Bros head of distribution Jeff Goldstein said.
Media analyst Paul Degarabedian of box office tracker Rentrak concurred. "This still goes on his balance sheet as a number one debut," he said.
"He can still draw an audience, particularly with a film that's R-rated and not aimed at the young crowd."

'Suicide Squad' will be aimed at a young crowd like DeadShot aims at his target!
