Xenomorphs Won't Be In PROMETHEUS Sequel

The sequel to 2012's Prometheus is still a long way off, but that isn't stopping director Ridley Scott from sharing a nugget or two about it. In a recent interview he reveals that the Xenomorphs won't appear in it. Hit the jump to voice your opinion.

Ridley Scott ("Matchstick Men") is working on sequels to Blade Runner and Prometheus. Though neither of them will be his next film, as he is currently working on The Martian. Once that film is complete he will then begin work on Blade Runner 2, which will feature the return of Harrison Ford. By the time Scott finally gets to Prometheus 2 I can't help but wonder how much interest will remain. And those that are interested, will they still be when they find out that the Xenomorphs aren't in it?

The beast is done. Cooked,” Ridley Scott says of the Xenomorphs “I got lucky meeting Giger all those years ago. It’s very hard to repeat that. I just happen to be the one who forced it through because they said it’s obscene. They didn’t want to do it and I said, ‘I want to do it, it’s fantastic’. But after four (he has conveniently forgotten the ‘AvP’ movies), I think it wears out a little bit. There’s only so much snarling you can do. I think you’ve got to come back with something more interesting. And I think we’ve found the next step. I thought the Engineers were quite a good start.

I'm not sure leaving out the creatures that terrorized Signourney Weaver's 'Ripley' is such a great idea. They're part of what makes the Alien franchise what it is. Leaving them out seems to distance Prometheus from its roots. To be honest with y'all, I didn't care for the first film and knowing that the sequel was written by Michael Green ("Green Lantern") and Jack Paglen (“Transcendence”) doesn't instill a lot of hope.

Besides that, Ridley Scott offered one other bit of info:
“You’ll probably have to go with [Noomi Rapace’s Elizabeth Shaw] and [Michael Fassbender’s android David] – without his head. Find out how he gets his head back on!”
Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba and Charlize Theron
Director: Ridley Scott * Writers: Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof

Damn I was really hoping this would tie into the original Alien, but looks like hes taking prometheus 2 in a different direction. I really enjoyed the first movie despite its flaws. Hope at the very least the sequel addresses some of the unanswered/unexplained questions from the first

I don't care if the fanboys are crying. Ridley Scott gets a lifetime pass from me for Black Hawk Down and Gladiator.

Cool with me, the directors cut offered a brief moment to understanding where they come from and seeing just what this "paradise" is should be a monumental continuation of the franchise.

@RebelVulcan

The Xenomorphs were created as a virus, by the engineers, to eliminate what they once thought was a bright idea: the human race. That's where the Alien connection ends. There would be no need for the reference to the Ridley Scott films, as the end of Prometheus made it pretty clear that the objective now, was to find the Engineers' Creators.

It really annoys me when people call them 'xenomorph' like it's their name. It's not. It's a fancy word for alien. Superman is a xenomorph. E.T. is a xenomorph. Alf is a xenomorph. The Doctor in Doctor Who is a xenomorph. That word was used once in Aliens before the creatures existence was even confirmed. The creature doesn't have an official name.

He is right But the movie didn't deliver as it was supposed to
If they write a good script? Ridley will shot the shit out of it and it will be visually beautiful and interesting experience.

What the [frick]? Oh well I hope they just make a good movie. Prometheus had it's cool moments but those cool moments are bogged down by the bullshit in the movie. At some point they are going to have to address or get closer to an Alien at some point... right?

One thing I can't seem to understand are Shaw's intentions at the end of the movie... After all that has transpired, she's still so resilient about getting closer, even to the point of locating these so called creators - these "Engineers". I mean, who does that? Why not just go back home?

Anyhow, I'm still looking forward to what they'll bring with the sequel, but just not as optimistic as I was with the first.

Prometheus was a series of people dying because they were doing stupid shit. I kept screaming (internally) at them the whole time. "Put your helmet on, you dumb shit! Don't touch the [frick]ing alien snake, you stupid [foo foo]! How the hell are you lost, you mohawked dumbass, you were the guy with the mapping drones!"

Seriously. I hated every single one of the people in this movie, except maybe Charlize Theron and Idris Elba, and all of them died except the dumbest idiot on the ship.

"I see a cave painting, therefore I'm going to space to find God."

Seriously. How did Ridley Scott make the same movie as Roland Emerich, only dumber? Dumber than Roland [frick]ing Emerich

I actually liked Alien: Resurrection. I wish they'd just kept going with the main Alien franchise. It seems like all prequels are doomed to fail.

I hated Prometheus, it did nothing but confuse the origin of the aliens, if it even was related to it at all, I will not see the sequel

Also: "Everything Wrong with Prometheus in 4 Minutes" vs. "Everything Wrong with Winter Soldier in 20 Minutes".

That's pretty much everything wrong with Cinema Sins, right there.
