There is a chance for many adored DC characters to once again shine in the spotlight due to the events of Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths and the setting of the new Dawn of DC campaign. Oliver Queen / Green Arrow will soon be adding his name to that list and, for the first time in years, receiving a brand-new ongoing series. Fans have been intrigued by the first glimpses of this new Green Arrow series, and now we get a fresh look at the Emerald Archer's most recent makeover.

A first look at the cover for Green Arrow #2 has been made available by DC as part of the May 2023 solicitations. The cover features Oliver's new superhero outfit, which includes some armored grey sections, a bigger green hood and cape, and some technologically upgraded components of his bow and arrow, in addition to a glance at an as-yet-unnamed brand-new character.

Green Arrow Post-Dark Crisis

It takes Oliver Queen and his whole family to track down the Emerald Archer in Green Arrow. Yet, perilous forces are doing everything they can to keep them apart. After the events of DC's Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths, DC architect Joshua Williamson (Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths: Superman) and artist Sean Izaakse (Thunderbolts) bring us Green Arrow, an action-packed adventure that spans the DCU and lays the stage for huge storylines to come in 2023.

Legendary author, Joshua Williamson, said in a recent interview, "I don't want to get too deep into Green Arrow yet, but a LOT of his rogues will be in the series... Just like every book I work on; I try to use all the mythology on the table. And with Green Arrow, I want to level up a few bad guys and show why they are deadly. It's going to surprise people who the real villain of that series is."

Dawn Of DC

New comics will debut in 2023 alongside the relaunch of fan favorites like Action Comics and Superman as part of DC's Dawn of DC initiative. Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Green Lantern: Hal Jordan, Green Lantern: John Stewart, Titans, Cyborg, Shazam!, Steelworks, and The Penguin are just some of the upcoming publications.

Upon its first announcement of the initiative, DC Chief Creative Officer and Publisher, Jim Lee, said, "After the near-Multiverse-ending events in Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths and DC Universe: Lazarus Planet, the DC Universe will be heading toward the light... With brand-new series and story arcs from some of the top creative members in comics, Dawn of DC is one of our most ambitious initiatives ever and is a chance for us to tell bigger and bolder stories across our line."

Dark Crisis On Infinite Earths

Does anyone Need a recap? Beginning in 2022 and continuing until 2023, Dark Crisis (later titled Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths) is a crossover event that continues the stories begun in Infinite Frontier #1 and Justice League Incarnate #1. Pariah, a major player in Crisis on Infinite Earths, leads an army of possessed villains on an invasion of Earth 0 in an attempt to construct his own Multiverse of "perfect" planets. The end outcome is the dissolution of the Justice League and the establishment of a new, infinite Multiverse in which numerous worlds from before the Crisis have been restored.

That costume is awful, the previous one (shown on that variant for GA #1) is miles better and likely his best outfit of the modern era. Hopefully it won't be too long before he goes back to it.
