TV writer, director, and producer Adam Lawson has delivered gruesome graphic novel titles over the past few years. Starting with The Eighth, a symbiotic Sumerian armor story, Lawson followed up his comic book debut with his second title, The Kill Journal, a horror comic about Revenants and the survivors that hunt them down.
Gifted Rebels has released both graphic novels, and now the company is set to debut its third visceral title from the writer: Kids & Monsters. The horror story launches in just over two weeks on October 12th on Indiegogo.
Kids & Monsters is described as a horror title where "Monsters live in backpacks like genies do in lamps!" The preview of the first issue features plenty of destruction and establishes the war between the Red Beasts from the World Within and the Monsters who protect the World We Know from them.
The image above is taken from the cover page of the preview for Kids & Monsters. In it, viewers get a first look at the main characters - a boy and the monster that dwells within his backpack, protecting him from demons.
The second image features the main cast of characters, including three children and their respective monsters. Demons and antagonists also loom over our heroes from a distance.
Pictured above and below are the other two main characters from the book with their respective solo pin-up images, giving comic readers a good look at each protagonist from Kids & Monsters.
We managed to get a first look at the preview, and this really is a unique tale. Lawson has managed to once again balance a world of graphic mayhem and destruction with a team of intriguing protagonists as he has in his previous projects, The Eighth and The Kill Journal.

Kids & Monsters is the tale of three kids who get sucked into an ancient war between Monsters and Beasts that mirrors their parents looming divorce. Nothing is more frightening to a young teen than the possible "destruction" of their family.
This trio is going to try and navigate the war at home and the one raging between the World Within and the World We Know. With the help of Monsters who live in backpacks (their keeps), will they be able to stop the Red Beasts and save their family?
Kids & Monsters launches on Indiegogo on October 12th from Gifted Rebels. Fans can sign up for the pre-launch mailing list here and receive a free ashcan about a monster named Nail.
