We were all celebrating Halloween last night, though the annual holiday felt perhaps a little less spook-tacular than normal being on a Monday night. Still, that didn't stop a whole plethora of famous faces from suiting up to mark the occasion.
Some wore costumes, while others underwent transformations that are akin to the sort of special effects we see in film and on TV. A big budget makes that easy, of course, but we can't pretend to be anything other than impressed by what the celebrities listed here came up with this year.
From comic book heroes and villains to pop culture icons; the likes of Halle Bailey, Kim Kardashian, and Heidi Klum left jaws on the floor this year, as did the takes on characters like Storm, Sailor Moon, and Catwoman you'll find in this feature.

10. Paris Hilton As Sailor Moon
Paris Hilton no longer makes headlines for all the wrong reasons, but does still find ways to grab everyone's attention.
Transformed into Sailor Moon's title character, the heiress offers a fun glimpse at what this character might look like in live-action. Who'd have guessed she's a fan of the franchise?
9. Janelle Monae As Diva Plavalaguna
Singer Janelle Monáe, who many of you may know best for her work in movies like Hidden Figures and Moonlight, is transformed here into The Fifth Element's Diva Plavalaguna.
An iconic sci-fi character, many celebs chose the same costume this year, though we'd argue that the Antebellum star stole the show.
8. Halle Bailey As An Avatar
Halle Bailey is a singer and actress who landed her biggest role yet when she was cast as Ariel in Disney's upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.
All signs point to her steaming the show in that movie, but we wouldn't say no to her taking a trip to Pandora for Avatar 3 if this impressive costume is an indication of what we could expect.
7. Kim Kardashian As Mystique
For better or worse, everyone knows who Kim Kardashian is. The reality TV star and social media influencer is constantly in the news, and her transformation into Mystique has received a lot of attention.
Based on how the character appeared in the X-Men movies, it appears Kardashian is looking to grab Marvel Studios' attention with this eye-catching look.
6. Chloe Bailey As Lola Bunny
Much was said about Lola Bunny's appearance in Space Jam: A New Legacy, but Chloe Bailey kept it old-school for her Halloween costume this year.
The singer starred in A Wrinkle in Time, but has only taken on a handful of acting gigs. If Warner Bros. wants a live-action Lola, though, we'd say Chloe would be a perfect fit.
5. Karol G As Catwoman
Decades after Batman Returns was released, Michelle Pfeiffer's unique take on Catwoman continues to inspire Halloween costumes around the globe.
Columbian singer and songwriter Karol G put her own spin on that with a striking red costume that offers a suitably devilish take on Selina Kyle. This one definitely scores points for originality.
4. Kendall Jenner As Jesse
Like Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner is someone we're sure you'll know from the huge amount of media attention she receives.
This cheeky interpretation of Toy Story's Jesse certainly wouldn't fit in on Disney+, but we have no doubt many of you will appreciate it. This franchise is running on fumes...could this be the way to revive it?! Uh, no.
3. Javicia Leslie As Storm
Batwoman was unceremoniously cancelled by The CW earlier this year, leaving Javicia Leslie without a job. She will, however, get to play Red Death in the final season of The Flash.
The Arrowverse may soon be a distant memory for the actress, though, as she makes a great case for playing the X-Men's Storm with this phenomenal costume.
2. Keke Palmer As Rogue
Talking of actresses who have proved they at least look the part for an MCU debut, the majorly talented Keke Palmer became Rogue this Halloween, making comic book fans very happy.
While the character is a little played-out thanks to Fox's X-Men movies, a comic-accurate version would be awesome, and we'd be in full support of Palmer getting to bring Anna Marie back to the big screen.
1. Heidi Klum As...A Giant Worm
Heidi Klum always steals the show on Halloween, and once again looked downright unrecognisable for this year's spooky celebrations.
Undergoing an epic transformation to become a giant worm, everyone is raving about this one, and it's not exactly hard to see why. We take our hat off to the model and actress. Now, bring on 2023.
