These are seven different ways that Hercules is better than Thor, many claim that Herc is simply a poor man's Thor, but nothing could be further from the truth. This article is intended to be light hearted so please don't take any of it personally. If you are a Thor fan, than I'm not trying to offend you. Parts of this are serious while others are just meant to poke a bit of fun...please don't get angry Thor fans.

#7 Immortality

As many would think, Hercules and Thor are considered "gods", however Thor is only half-god, Odin is an Asgardian and Marvel says that Asgardians aren't truly immortal they just have super longevity. Olympians on the other hand, Marvel says are truly 100% immortal. And also Hercules has ascended to full god hood and is completely immortal while Thor is superhuman, and can live for thousands of years but he isn't a full god, he's still mortal.

#6 Fighting Skill

Have you all read Blood Oath? If so, then you know this as a fact. While it's not like Hercules is vastly more skilled, but Thor himself stated that Hercules is a better hand to hand combatant than himself. Again, it's not to say Thor sucks at hand to hand combat, but he himself says that Hercules was better at it, after Hercules had him in a submission hold of course.

#5 Physical Strength

While it is a very slight advantage, it's still an advantage nonetheless. Once when Hercules and Thor fought, Thor claimed that Hercules had the edge in strength. Also, I think Hercules' feats are better, he once lifted the entire sky (I know, I know the sky isn't an actual object but hey, neither is a black hole and that's a Superman feat everyone talks about) while Thor's greatest feat was lifting the Midgard Serpent, which wasn't as heavy as the Earth. Again, this isn't a massive advantage...but it's an advantage nonetheless.

#4 Chicks

He gets more of e'm than Thor does.

#3 Personality

Hercules is much more down to Earth and less arrogant than Thor. He's much more fun to be around than Thor, Hercules is all around a really jolly guy. He's funny too, in contrast to Thor who's always so serious. Hercules is really a more enjoyable character if you look at it the right way.

#2 Drinking

Hercules is second to none in this department. In a drinking contest? He'd beat Thor and even Tony Stark himself miserably. Thor would pass out before Herc is even halfway finished drinking his share.

#1 The Beard

Yup, this is number one...the beard. While Thor did grow a beard later on, it's got NOTHING on Herc's beard. And Hercules has had an awesome full grown beard practically his entire career. While Thor was only able to grow on later on and it hasn't stuck...this proves that Hercules is much more manly than Thor.

Agree with my reasons? Disagree? Which do you like better? If you feel I've been bashing Thor, please understand that was not my intention. A lot of this article is intended to be humorous...so don't take it personally.

Yeah like I said, some of these are serious (strength, skill, etc.) while the others are meant to be humorous (The Beard, Chicks, etc.)

These are just a few areas in which Herc is better in than his Norse counterpart, it goes the other way as well. Thor is better in some areas than Herc, speed and magic are fine examples.

I'd like to counter-argue.

Reasons Thor is better than Hercules:
7) Thor has a hammer, making him handy in DIY situations
6) Thor can control lightning (and Hercules is afraid of thunder storms)
5) Thor isn't afraid of the dark
4) Chicks - quality over quantity (Jane Foster, Sif... need I say more?)
3) Clothes - Thor wears Asgard's finest armours and fashion; Hercules struts around nearly naked, or wearing a skirt and stripper boots if he's feeling chilly.
2) Beard - Thor looks good with or without one
1) Hair - Thor could model for L'Oreal with his luxurious golden tresses.

As for 7) Thor has a hammer, but Herc has a mace so I'd rate them around equal there.
But the rest is true.

I like your article but the bottom line is, Thor is just a much cooler character. Besides, Norse mythology is much more interesting than Greek mythology. Although I wouldn't mind seeing Herc show up in a future Avengers film. Seeing Thor and Hercules chemistry on screen would be really fun and exciting to watch.

Fair enough, you've got your opinion and I've got mine. Most people prefer Thor, but I'm a Herc fan...lol maybe I'm just weird.

@dellamorte
I'm a big Avengers fan as well, and to be honest...I dislike Wasp as well. She doesent bring anything to the team that isn't already there. Her powers are that she can fly, change size and shoot light energy blasts...IM and Thor can already fly and they can fly waaaay faster than she can. IM has energy projection as well and it's in a much higher level than Wasp's. Giant-Man can change size too, but he brings so much more to the table than that because he's also super strong (around the 60-ton level) and he's smarter than anyone in the Avengers. (this includes T'Challa, Banner and even Stark)

So yeah I agree Wasp isn't a good Avenger, I think her inclusion on the original team was just the writers trying to be politically correct by including a female character...she's got nothing to bring to this team that isn't already there.

This would be my perfect Avengers team:
Captain America
Iron Man
Hulk
Hawkeye
Giant-Man/Ant-Man
Black Panther
Vision
Doctor Strange

And in replacement of Thor:
Hercules
Storm

Together those two would have essentially the same power as Thor.

I think Thor is best as a solo character, just like Superman he's got too many powers and it doesent do any good for the team image.

Here's why Thor is obviously better:

7. He always wears a shirt
6. He doesn't wear elaborate sandals
5. His rouge's gallery includes giants, trolls, and a giant serpent
4. His family of villains and allies are far more interesting, and less obvious
3. He didn't his ass handed to him by "The Masters of Evil"
2. He carries a hammer instead of a metallic Maraca
1. He never, ever, ever wears a skirt as part of his costume
