In last week's Amazing Spider-Man #35/#999, Spider-Man learned that Aunt May had been rushed to the hospital after suffering a stroke. With that, the stage has been set for Amazing Spider-Man #1000 on September 30.

"Destined to take its place in comic book history," as Marvel Comics puts it, the epic milestone issue marks a major turning point in Joe Kelly and Pepe Larraz's acclaimed run with a pulse-pounding lead story that delivers the shocking fate of Aunt May and sets the stage for a revelatory showdown with the all-new supervillain Ravage.

Today, you can see Spider-Man race to Aunt May's side in a special preview that will also be featured in the back of select Marvel releases hitting stands over the next few weeks. Tragically, as Peter reunites with May and his newfound cousin, Cormac, the hero learns that his Aunt no longer remembers who he is.

Following Kelly and Larraz's story, Amazing Spider-Man #1000 features an incredible lineup of anniversary stories from superstar creators celebrating Spider-Man's legacy, including definitive creators from Spider-Man history and acclaimed creators contributing to the Spidey mythos for the first time, as well as WWE Hall of Famer & Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque.

Here's a full breakdown of what to expect from the landmark issue:

  • "Still Standing" by Noah Hawley and Patrick Gleason
  • "Requiem for a Goblin" by J.M. DeMatteis and Humberto Ramos
  • "Tears of the Spider-Queen" by Frank Miller and Peach Momoko
  • "The Big Night" by Triple H and Ed McGuinness
  • "The Gesture" by Brian Michael Bendis and Stuart Immonen
  • "Of Webs and Six-Guns" by Larry Lieber and Giuseppe Camuncoli
  • "I Can Never Rest" by Dan Slott and Marcos Martin
  • And more, including an interview with actor Tom Holland and Spider-Man: Brand New Day director Destin Daniel Cretton!

Three weeks out from launch, more than 400,000 copies of Amazing Spider-Man #1000 have been ordered, and a second printing is already in the works.

Following its highly anticipated release on September 30, the issue will return to stores on October 28 with special sketch covers of John Romita Jr. and Pepe Larraz's already-iconic main covers.
