AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #1 (JAN120625)
Written by BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS, JASON AARON, MATT FRACTION, JONATHAN HICKMAN & ED BRUBAKER
Art by JOHN ROMITA JR.
Colors by LAURA MARTIN
Cover by JIM CHEUNG

From Jason Aaron:“In the past, the typical Marvel thing when two groups of heroes cross paths was: They would meet, there would be some kind of misunderstanding, and they would fight. Then they would make their peace, and team up to save the day. This is not that kind of story. This is 12 issues of gigantic brawls for the fate of the world, where both sides really have a defensible position. Cap is the General of the Avengers. Cyclops is the General of the X-Men. Logan is that wild card in the middle. You don’t know where’s he’s going to go. As things start to unfold, Logan’s role will continue to shift and chance.

This is superhero comics at their biggest and finest. Even if we could make this movie today, nobody could ever afford to. You’d have to have a $20 billion special effects budget."

From Brian Michael Bendis: “It isn’t just two mindless armies smashing into each other. These people have very, very strong ideals. With a story like this, I want it to count. I can absolutely, whole-heartedly tell you that the Marvel universe will change for good and for all time. It’s my last Avengers title, and I’m going out with a blaze of Phoenix Force glory.”

Avengers Vs. X-Men or AvX is a limited series comic book crossover to be published by Marvel Comics beginning in April 2012, that involves the rebirth of the Phoenix Force, the subsequent war between the Avengers (consisting of the main team, the New Avengers, and the Secret Avengers) and the X-Men, and the emergence of a future Age of Ultron, as foreshadowed in Marvel Point One. It will be a 12-issue limited series following Avengers: X-Sanction and X-Men Regenesis story lines.

The event is preceded by Avengers Vs. X-Men #0, which will be published in March 2012. According to Marvel, Avengers Vs. X-Men is the end result of all the threads from the Fear Itself, X-Men: Schism and Avengers: The Children's Crusade stories coming together.

Yeh man, either Adi Granov or Mike Deodato would've been excellent. Leinil Francis Yu also.

Yeah, not digging the story set up, and starting off with the meh-tastic JRJr has me thinking that I don't need to pick this title up. *Yawn*...wake me when it's over.

I miss the old JRjr work. At least this looks a little better than what he's been doing for the past two decades or so.

I dont know why so many people hate on Romita's art, I love it, the work on Kick-Ass is awesome. I woulda preferred McNiven or maybe Mike Deodado but the facts are the facts...stop bitching about art like some 12 yr olds and check the book if you are half interested - it will be an awesome story

Jr Jr is dope I don't get the hate. That said, who designed the new Iron Man look? It looks like shit!

Anyways, this actually looks interesting. I might pick up my first Marvel crossover in a while.

This isn't his best work in the series, I'm sure. Its what, 5 pages of people standing around talking? To each his own I guess. But to call him "rubbish" is just silly.

This is my theory... after reading the Cable series and him passing on the techno virus to Red Hulk well currently a small portion of it.... I believe the entire virus passes on to Red Hulk and he beats the virus but in turn Cable becomes completely cure. Think about what happened in X-cutioners song when Apocalypse took the virus from Xavier and allowed it to feed on him before he cured it.I think Cable is the Host of The Phoenix force... And Hope is the only one that can defeat him based on his connection to her.... thus Hope is the messiah... i may be wrong but it just seems to be a possibility since we haven't seen or heard anything about Cable and everybody assumes he dies before AVX

I hate to be another Spoiler of Bad news.....and a fanboy...Did anyone else catch any of the Dialogue about Phoenix or Thrown off?

Wolverine said that Jean Grey killed herself to stop the Phoenix and failed.... So did they forget that it was a clone body that the Phoenix itself made that did that and not Jean Grey herself.

Cyclops said that the last time that they faced the Phoenix they were young and foolish...So did they forget, or are they excluding the events of Phoenix Endsong (possibly Warsong) Which is fairly Recent?

Just somethings I caught and wondering if anyone else caught that, or if the Editor was taking a nap!

Which person on each side do you guys think would be the most likely to escalate this confrontation? At the start, I doubt they'll be trying to kill each other... but with people like Red Hulk on one side and Magneto (maybe Namor?) on the other, I just don't see them as the type to hold back and avoid killing another hero.
