wolverine of the 70s & 80s was the best take on the character, when we knew f*ck all about the character.

now he is over used & its ruined the character.

@ halloweenjack

the final panel of uncanny x-men 132 is the reason i became a fan of wolverine thanks to the legend duo of claremont & byrne.

chris claremont knew how to write wolverine, actually cyclops & the rest of the x-men as well.

i agree with you when wolverine doesn't win all the time it makes a pleasant change & seeing him comeback from near death experiences is great i.e wolverine old man logan & uncanny x-force.

its when wolverine is on every team that it pisses me off just to boost sales.

-x-men
-the new avengers
-uncanny x-force

he has also been a member of the fantastic four with spider-man,hulk & ghost rider & a member of the uncanny avengers.

some of the recent storylines haven't been that great what with daken, jason aaron's recent wolverine run, wolverine vs the marvel universe & a recent astonishing spider-man & wolverine comic where wolverine becomes dark phoenix wolverine.

don't get me wrong i like wolverine but i like the mysterious beserker & not the guy who sided with the avengers over his fellow mutants the x-men.

The fact that Wolverine gets beat up and comes back every single time to kick that persons ass is why he's my favorite. HalloweenJack nailed it. Fatal Attraction and the 3 or 4 years following were my favorite Wolverine times. The bone claws, the wiped out healing factor, he was just so savage then. I like the direction they have taken him. It would of just got old if they kept him as a savage attack dog forever. He had to mature and grow in to the leader roll that he has always been capable of being in. People hate on him just because he's popular, and when a character is popular, the popular thing to do is to talk shit. He's popular for a very viable reason. And comments like "its about time someone takes him down" are proof of his badassness. These are only the first pages. If you think for one second that Bucky is going to succeed in making Wolvy stay down, you're trippin.

Marvel72, it seems like he sided with Avengers because he is going to side with whoever is on the right side. I haven't read that whole arch yet, but from what I've seen, it looks like Avengers had the entire worlds best interests in mind, and Scott just had mutants in mind. Wolverine sided with them BECAUSE it was the right side to be on. Then Scott and the Phoenix Five wrecked havoc on the everything, and you still think Wolverine chose wrong?

@ ripynt

i've only read half of the avx storyline but i know the outcome of it,so i won't spoil it.

but what i've read the phoenix five were doing good for the whole world & the avengers took hope from cyclops to push him over the edge.

as for the conclusion i won't spoil it but be prepared to be pissed at the outcome.

Wow, could that be a harder comic book sequence to follow there? Still no idea what happened. Wolverine slipped and fell apparently. I think. Maybe. I really dunno.

@Ripynt Cyclops wasn't just doing everything for mutants he was doing it for everyone. Humans and mutants alike. Avenger werent right. They poked a lion and blamed the lion for lashing out As for Logan, he even turned on Cap and tried to slice his guts out. He was on his own agenda to kill Hope...just like Bishop? Yep I said it. You right about people hating on someone because they're awesome though.

@HalloweenJack
Cyclops and Wolverine haven't switched roles. Logan is calmer but not the leader like Storm or Cyclops. He uses his claws and not his words. Great for a body guard or "the tough guy." Mutants need a leader thats there all the time and not trying to fit in with the Avengers. Cyke will never be prancing around in "the team of the week." He is still all about the mutants.

marvel72, an excellent story, but you got your facts wrong. It was Byrnes interpretation in that issue (if you walk he's credited as a co-writer) a fellow Canadian. He basically ripped off Clint Eastwood's dirty Harry. I agree though it was awesome, and that's my idea of Logan.
