How can you hate Greg Land???? :O He's one of the top artists in the business today! Way better than John Romita Jr. He's really made Uncanny X-Men his own, and it's great!

@Pappy

TOTALLY Agree!

Great artist.. he should be on xmen FOREVER (the time frame not the Xmen forever comic)

yea gambit would be a thousand times cooler than wolverine if it weren't for the ball and chain of Rogue he always has to carry around

Gambit89, why? Because he uses references to make his drawings more believable and realistic?

I like Romita Jr. too, though his style is an acquired taste he knows story telling and pacing, his fight sequences are awesome.

There are no eyes on the spread page. Even Kitty has frightening white voids.

i totally agree with Gambit89 . dont know what it is, but i just dont like it. adam hughes uses photos as well, but something about Land that i never liked.

emma frost has one eye... but thats about it i think lol

I can see why people don't like his art though, it can come off pretty stiff.

I know a lot of artists use templates for faces, but Land takes it too far. Every girl has the same face and every guy has the same pretty-boy face. Land draws WOLVERINE as a pretty boy!!!! His art does not bother me as much as Romita, Jr's but I'm not a big fan.

@CBMfanx1

Long story. He had it set up to where when he dies his consciousness transfers to a pre-selected person. It went to Xaiver first but he fought it and it somehow wound up inside a woman. So we had a MS. Sinister for a while, but he ended up separating from her (this takes place in X-23's series) and going out on his own, and that's the last we've seen of him.

I think that's just the shadow from her hair covering her white voids, haha

Love the art, love the look for Mr. Sinister. it fits.

Anybody notice how Wolverine made that collage twice?

I like the cover becuase it speaks to more fun and innocent times, but why is Spiderman Noir on the cover as well? If its not Spidey, please someone tell me who it is.

BTW He is a good artist but his depth is limited. I really don't know what I'm talking about but that is what I feel as I look at his artwork.

That's probably Cyclops.
And looking at that splash, I've seen that Emma, Wolverine, and Phoenix before. I think there was even a cover where he drew Kitty laying down like that.

wolverine's on all teams... even in the past, and the baseball team. lol

@ CBMfanx1

X-23 #6 explains it. He has a batch of clones made just to take his consciousness. At the end one of the attempts (he tries to get into X-23 at one point) is successful.

I know that's a matter of taste but whoever said Greg Land is better than John Romita Jr. is just plain crazy

1. Gred Land's art is awesome, even though (sometimes) unoriginal.
2. When are they going to bring Jean Grey back already???

I'm not too fond of Greg Lands artwork either. As an artist myself here's why. Someone mentioned that he uses photo ref. like Adam Hughes. True, but the difference is Hughes can actually draw without it. Seems like what Land does is google hot babe...take an image and trace it...pose, face and all...and slap a costume on it. I mean literally trace it. That's why a lot of his artwork looks stiff. You can tell what he has drawn freehand and what he used ref. on. Google Greg Land and you'll see plenty of examples.
Stumblin
Stumblin - 9/23/2011, 11:58 AM
I know what you mean Lazeedog, I'm also an artist. But he's not tracing, copying yeah, but far from tracing you can tell notable differences in his work and his references. They are similar but not traced.
Stumblin
Stumblin - 9/23/2011, 11:59 AM
Unless he's copying other's works (cough) Liefeld! (cough)

It's all good.

Really liking the look of Mr. Sinister.
Stumblin

I gotcha, I have no respect for someone that straight up copies another artist's work.

Damn, I wasn't even aware of all of that, I mean I know he did basically always used magazines for his drawings but damn, he's worse than Liefeld, at least he draws his own drawings (on occasion)

I stand corrected.

Thank God they changed Mr.Sinister's look! I hated it when he looked like Colossus with a tramp stamp on his forehead!

Speaking of artists, i always liked Ron Lim, he did good with characters like Silver Surfer and Terrax! I wonder wtf happened to him...

Looking back, Uncanny X-Men was very good, i hate to see them end the original numbering though! My dad had issue#1 and i got into them just before the whole Dark Phoenix Saga came to fruition.
