COMICS: Get Your First Look At Logan's New Costume In This RETURN OF WOLVERINE #2 Preview

We recently got our first look at Logan's "hot claws,", and now Marvel has shared an image of the new costume the fan-favorite mutant will be sporting when he makes his comeback in Return of Wolverine...

We already know Logan will be debuting some red-hot claws when he makes his big comeback in the pages of Charles Soule's Return of Wolverine, but it's now been revealed that he'll also be sporting some new duds.

Marvel has announced that artist Declan Shalvey will be joining Soule on issues #2-4 of the limited series, and he'll be giving the recently resurrected mutant a slight makeover. As you can see, the new short sleeve costume is almost all-black aside from some purple details. The biggest alteration from Logan's classic look is obviously the lack of a mask, however.

Wolvie has gone mask-less plenty of times in the comics, though, and will almost certainly add some headgear to his ensemble at some point.

Check out the cover for Return of Wolverine #2 below and let us know what you think of the new outfit in the usual place.

@MutantEquality - reminds me of this

@MutantEquality - Yup. And it is black and red, not black and purple. You can see his skin looks blue-ish. That's because of the light reflecting from the blue water. So the vlue tint would make the red parts look purple. In comics, at least.

@TomSolo - his skin reflects color? Oh man. Another new mutation to go with his “hot claws?” Lame sauce.

Nothing will beat the classic

@Tonic24k - No matter what anyone says, Wolverine rocks the yellow spandex.

@Tonic24k - As you post of a gif of a costume from many decades after his classic costume.

@storyteller - Lol You're totally right.

The costumes are similar but it certainly isn't the classic.

I always preferred the brown one myself...

@storyteller - There's a difference between "original" and "classic". I posted correctly.
Tonic24k
Tonic24k - 8/20/2018, 5:08 PM
@CorndogBurglar - Classic is not synonymous with first. "Classic" is more in line with standard association.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 8/20/2018, 5:34 PM
@Tonic24k - Yeah. But classic also means that it's generally the most well known or popular.

This costume didn't come around until the 2000's. When people think of Wolverine's most classic costume, this is not it. It's generally either his yellow and blue one from Chris Claremont's 80's run and Jim Lee's 90's run.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 8/20/2018, 5:34 PM
@CorndogBurglar - Or his Brown and Tan costume.
Tonic24k
Tonic24k - 8/20/2018, 5:37 PM
@CorndogBurglar - Exactly. His most classic costume is the blue and yellow one. That is the one I posted...

@Tonic24k - I've always preferred the tan and brown:

@LoudLon - It's certainly one of the best. I personally prefer the blue and gold. I was a kid when the 90s cartoon was on. And I remember depictions of him on Wizard Magazine, comics, etc so I'm just conditioned to like that one I guess.

@Tonic24k - Gonna have to agree with everyone else, that isn’t even Wolverine’s classic yellow and blue. This is:

@trickydicky0880 - They look the exact same to me. What is the difference?? Man, y'all using a microscope and looking thru all the shadows or something...jesus.

The only new costume design in the last ten years that impressed me was Spider-Gwen. So I wasn't that disappointed. And it looks like a temporary thing for just this storyline. (It's not even his worst, remember the bland black one from the 80s?)

I like it, I haven't been able to go to my comic book store in almost a month now and I really want to get caught up on what I was following. Stupid body just won't work. I think his costume though is at least original, reminds me of something but I can't think of it.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 8/20/2018, 4:51 PM
@JustAChillFan - It reminds me of something a military officer would wear in sci-fi movies.

It's very SHIELD-ish.
inkniron
inkniron - 8/20/2018, 4:52 PM
@JustAChillFan - a little reminiscent of the 80's Star Trek or maybe even Star Lord. The short sleeves are throwing you off from seeing it. I think they were going for a Japanese inspiration but missed the mark
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 8/20/2018, 4:52 PM
@JustAChillFan - Or actually, it's very similar to his House of M costume when he was on a special forces team with Mystique, Nightcrawler, and Rogue.
Santanaonfire
Santanaonfire - 8/20/2018, 6:44 PM
@JustAChillFan - It kind of has a kimono feel to me, maybe paying tribute to his days in Japan? I don’t love it though. I hope it’s just temporary.
