COMICS: Latest Marvel Teaser Puts An End To Foolhardy SPIDER-MAN 4 Fan Speculation

Online fans thought the previous teaser was an indication that Marvel would actually be making Sam Rami's Spider-Man 4, while others thought the script would be released as a comic book or graphic novel.

With the latest teaser image from Marvel Comics, it's clear that Marvel is counting down to a big Spider-Man announcement, not releasing some version of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 4.

Social media reactions are blasting Marvel for starting with 4 instead of 3, but the more logical assumption was that Marvel intentionally begun their countdown with 4 as a clue that the announcement will be some sort of Spider-Man/Fantastic Four team-up.

However, current Marvel Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski has ruled out a Fantastic Four team-up, stating that the countdown will reveal something no one is going to see coming.

Right up there with "The Marvel/DC Universe will never be the same again" in believability.

OT:

I'm watching Jessica Jones S3 (8/13) and really enjoying it, I don't see what's so bad about it? and I hated the mom plot last season, but this one is actually good imo, not as good as S1, but very entertaining

Unless this is them announcing they’re undoing OMD and bringing back the marriage, I am disappointed.

I hope Spider-Verse 2 has a Tobey cameo. If anything, this whole debacle has shown that there's still so many people who need closure to that story and those characters, myself included

@webheaded - Closure is easy: watch the movies again and realize they weren't actually very good. Then move on.

@Spock0Clock - thank you!

I love spidey... my mom taught me how to read with spider-man comics nearly 40 years ago... I loved the first two films when they came out... they kinda blew my mind... sadly... they do not hold up. They deserve a lot of respect/credit... maybe I’ll change my mind when my son is old enough to sit through them? That might be the only way I could revisit them....

I think a lot of nostalgia goggles are being worn while viewing...

@Spock0Clock - Spider-Man 2's still the best live-action Spider-Man film ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@CapnMurphy2021 - In 2002, when the only direct comparisons were the X-films, the Batman franchise, and Donner's Superman, absolutely Raimi's films stood tall in that context. And also as an expression of New York resilience in the wake of 9/11. I'm not saying there were no virtues to them.

But they have aged terribly and the genre has produced so many better movies since.

@tmp3 - I know there's a mod that won't let me say "ob-snay", but is hipster on the table?
