Once the deadliest, most feared mutant mastermind on the planet, MAGNETO is no longer the man he once was. After falling in with Cyclops and the X-Men, Erik Lehnsherr became just one more pawn in another man’s war. But now, determined to fight the war for mutantkind's survival on his own terms, Magneto sets out to regain what he’s lost… And show the world exactly why it should tremble at the sound of his name. Magneto will safeguard the future of the mutant race by hunting down each and every threat that would see his kind extinguished— and bloody his hands that they may never be a threat again.

The town is called Cape Girardeau, not Cape Girardean. I go to school there. Fincher just shot Gone Girl there.

And this is why Magneto is the best Marvel villain.

I don't get why people complain about variant covers they are just variant covers they don't change the reading experience and they are for people who like a funnier, cuter, or crazier cover to their comics. You can still buy one of the first two covers if you don't like the Deadpool, kid, or animal covers.

Cipher: me too man. He used to be so much scarier in the 90's. They sort of neutered him along the way as of recently. I loved the sociopath Erik. I wish they would bring him back to the days of old.

My favourite Marvel villain (hell, one of my favourite comic characters in general). Really hope this series is good, because the character has so much potential.

Also, I his new costume sucks. They needed to update his costume, but not to something sleek and cool. It needs to be intimating and shows power.

Must admit though that I don't like his new costume or the fact he's now bald, but design aside, this could be a really good read.

Wish this title had a better team working on it... The team working on it has a odd/poor track record.

Something about seeing that X on his belt just feels so wrong. He's not and never will be apart of the X-Men. He's everything they are not.

Hmm. I don't buy Magneto suddenly murdering people cold after a decade of character development. That would be like Grant Morrison's Xorn reveal all over again. Good and a guilty pleasure, but bad editing.
For one thing he wouldn't go around murdering innocents while still keeping his homage Xavier haircut.
I'm going to guess if there's a Magneto running around killing humans, it's gotta be his clone Joseph. Joseph has his memories of when he was evil, and he was imprisoned in Utopia when it was destroyed. Sounds like a great way to literally make Magneto face his demons, like he's denying in the opening scene.

I'm not sure I like Magneto being bald, and I definitely don't like the new costume. Can't say much about the story, it's been a while since I read an X-Men comic. He's doing the Sylar these days (evil->good->evil->good etc)?

@Kyos
He found out his reign of terror had been manipulated by the Evolutionaries trying to instigate a mutant/human war. He saw his best friend Xavier killed by Cyclops and shaved his head in rememberance. He's losing his powers because he touched the Phoenix Force. Even if he had the inclination to kill that man, I'm not sure if he'd have enough control over his power.

THIS is the Magneto that I want to see. A man who is disgusted by what he has to do and, yet, WILL do it if necessary. He's not a villain, he's not a hero, he is a fanatic. He believes in his cause so much, that he will not hesitate to kill in defending it. He believes that he is serving a higher purpose and being a "necessary monster" to preserve his people. He knows that what he does is wrong but, since there is no better alternative, he does it anyway. Magneto is a great character who never needs to be permanently relegated to the status of "bad guy" or "good guy" as his motives are not so simply defined.

There's no way that Magneto would kill a person just for being human. The editors would never allow it. It's outside his character, and his mind is no longer tainted by the Evolutionaries' demand to murder the human race.
SimpleeComplex

Magneto doesn't kill "innocent" humans (as if any are innocent in his keys) but if he knows for sure that a human has committed any crimes against mutants he never has had qualms about dealing with them permanently. I was kinda liking him as a member of 'Cyke's renegade X-men at the same time seeing as 1 of Cyke's soldiers seemed weird. How are they addressing Magneto's defection in the Uncanny X-men title anyone know?
