Man, I'm really not fond of JRJR's art... It's fine for street level books but it doesn't look right for Avengers and X-men. My heart literally sank when I saw he was on this event... I hope Coipel's issues start soon.

I agree with you guys, I really dislike JrJr.

However, he's known as a legend (somehow), so having him on this event is supposed to be a big deal.

I don't see it though.

One page away from donkeypunch. I have been an X-Man fan since the early 100's of Uncanny. I read about the first Pheonix, the introduction of Kitty Pryde, and Dazzler...But the people on Utopia do not strike me as X-Men anymore, or heroes. Storm is the only true hero on that island right now, the rest are either former villians, tainted heroes, and a former leader of the original X-Men on his way to becoming another Magneto. So I have thrown my geek vote towards the Avengers.

Do we even know what the real Avengers line up is going to be? They gotta have Dr. Strange to counter the X-Men's telepaths. Better get Thor back too, to help with Magneto and Colossus. Those two members in the Avengers would give them a better chance.

I would imagine the main reason for JRJr is that he turns his art in on time. And that gives time for the better artists to take their time (I guess?) on the later issues. But, yeah, I have never liked JRJr, even during his Xmen run back in the 80s. Paul Smith was rocking it, then here comes JRJr. Blech...

@Nomis - Why is Wolverine siding with the Avengers? He knows how destructive the Phoenix Force is and doesn't fully subscribe to Cyclops belief in a 'Mutant Messiah' - plus, he's an Avenger and not a part of the Utopia team.
For him, it's not about being a mutant or not at this point. Wolverine has never made being a mutant a huge part of his identity like Cyclops and Magneto have.

@Nutanyahoo How does that make cyclops sound like he's in second grade? sounds to me like he's finally sick and tired of being treated like a 2nd class citizen when he's responsible for saving the world as much as any of those assholes. They're almost extinct, and now he sees what Magneto saw for all those years... God Loves, Man Kills

and im sorta thinking that Wolverine is expecting Jean to return, but is siding with Avengers on this so he can kill Cyclops and have her all to himself...

Magneto had his powers hugely amped when he did that, his current power levels aren't capable of manipualting adamantium.

Also, the true X-men now reside in Salem Center, Cyclops and his former villians posing as X-men live on Utopia.

What's with the Wolverine Hate? He left Utopia because he didn't believe that children should be soldiers. Cyclops wants the phoenix to take Hope so he can have more power on his side and use her. Logan's problems are mainly with Scott's ideas, of course for the moment he is going to side with the Avengers.

John Romita Jr. is a great story teller. He has a great style that is singular and graphic. Most comics now have strong splash page images, but lack a narrative continuity. JR is one of the greats like John Byrne and Walt Simonson.

this is predicatable in my opinion. Avengers will win a round, Xmen will win a round(how i dont know), and the the PF will show up, pick a third party and they will have to unite to fight it....

Also dont forget who has a movie coming out?!?!? and who is making shit films and holding out on the rights to those characters? I would shelve the Xmen until Mox studios gave back the rights...The future is media, not print. Characters have a MEGA long shelf life for media. Just my opinion of course.. :)

i dont understand why they keep adding random ass people to the avengers team. they need to put that shit into check... i have been readin most of the lines, but i see quicksilver up on th elineup pic, what story line did that [frick]er come back to the avengers in, and why would they even let him back in..

and x-men will win this

I sincerely hope that Romita isn't drawing the rest of this series. I hate being a critic because Lord knows I can't draw worth a damn, but I cannot stand Romita's work.

Seriously, if I could shoot people with my eyes, and Cap came to my doorstep ordering me to give him custody of my son's stepdaughter (my step-grandaughter) even though she's committed no crime? You'd better believe I'd blast him the heck off my lawn. And if I ruled an island nation, and somebody parked a aircraft carrier in front of it without clearance (which is itself an act of war)? That thing is toast.

I agree. I much prefer the penciling of Jim Cheung, and I wish they would have gone with him (HE DID THE COVER ART ANYWAY. What a tease!) and Mark Morales, or Alan Davis. No offense to Romita fans, but...

No, who am I kidding? All the offense in the world.

Hell, Stuart Immonen penciled Avengers v. X-Men Infinite for the digital release...WHY COULDN'T HE DO THE MAIN SERIES TOO!


I'm tired of seeing whiskers on everyone's faces, and, with Romita, that's all we seem to be getting.
