COMICS: Malekith Set To Return To The Marvel Universe In THOR: GOD OF THUNDER

During their "Next Big Thing" panel at C2E2 earlier today, Marvel announced that this September will see Jason Aaron bring back Malekith in the pages of Thor: God of Thunder. Uncanny X-Force artist Ron Garney joins regular writer Jason Aaron in a storyline entitled "The Accursed". Apparently, "This will involve a chase through the Nine Realms as Malekith is resurrected and brought out of the realm of the dead. We’ll see a new overview of the Nine Realms and how they all connect together. Thereafter, we’ll get back to young Thor and old Thor." Perfect timing for his appearance in Thor: The Dark World, eh? Do you think it's a good idea to bring back the villain?

This series is fantastic, but I hope introducing Malekith (which we all know is just for the film) doesn't have a negative effect on this series' quality

Why doesn't Marvel just expand the MCU with their own comics continuity, instead of doing these obvious character appearances? I don't know anyone who watches the movies who would want to try to jump into an on going book.

I dont mind some things like The Chitari coming to the 616 or Malekith but when they announced that Wolverine was loosing his healing factor that annoyed me.

No shock there. They always start reintroducing characters once they get movies *look at GOTG for example*

Not suprised. After ASM2 is released, expect Electro, to return, as well as being black :P

And i think they need to redesign Malekith

I bet they are making a new Iron man suit that looks like the one from IM3 right now.

I always thought the comics should influence the movies. Not the other way around.

@ darthjericho

its just another form of promotion, there maybe new readers to say thor that know malekith is the villain in thor the dark world but haven't any knowledge of the character, its a good way to introduce him to them.

maybe its a way of trying to get new readers, you know through the popularity of the movies so they reintroduce & expand the universe by adding movie versions of the characters.

personally i would rather they made three comic book universes.

They do, but in very, very small quantity. Some have been great, others feeling skimped on. I agree that I'd rather them make more comics in the MCU instead of bleeding into the main MU

Yeah. Saw this coming. But I think this serves a two fold purpose. They're forcing Aaron to put his story on hold to promote the movie, but it also gives Esad Ribic a chance to catch up on his art work for the story Aaron actually wants to tell. I would rather see Ribic on that arc with a fill in story in between to keep things on track. For all I know this story might be good though, so I won't kvetch about it till it comes out.

You mean like the Superman Unchained series coming out in a couple of months?

Again, know this CBM people, the movies and comics DO NOT have any influence on eachother, it's purely a coincidence !

At least that's what they say.

Of course, they would. Americans hate everything, yet embrace mediocrity. I'm glad the overseas critics enjoyed IM3.

I don't remember DC doing anything to their comics when The Dark Knight came out. although when the dark knight rises came out they did have a story involving Bane.
