It was revealed earlier this week that Wolverine assembled the first team of mutants. Logan will put together a team which includes Sabretooth, Magneto, Bomb, and a new female character in a new series called "The First X-Men".

Here is what Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso had to say...

Neal pitched us a really great concept for a Wolverine story that we realized, with a little bit of work, might actually fit as an official piece of X-Men history. A story that illuminated the connection between Wolverine's, Professor X and Sabretooth and, indeed, the very concept of a mutant super-team. The few months Neal and [writer] Christos [Gage] and [editor] Nick [Lowe] work-shopped that story really paid off -- it became so much richer and important and relevant, considering surprises that have yet to be revealed in "Avengers Vs. X-Men." I commend Neal and [writer] Christos [Gage] and [editor] Nick [Lowe] for their ability to take this story and make it count.

Below are Neal Adams' pages for "The First X-Men" a five issue limited series to be released in August.

@Pux Pre X-Men Movie and Joe Quesada's abomination that forever ruined Logans Purpose, I loved Wolverine, he was my favorite character, but around the year 2000, he went down hill.

PatientZero LMAO! No, we speak of Wolverines eries' and adventures, lol! And no, it's not the writer's fault, they're just using their fan fic, it's Quesada's fat ass fault for allowing it, much less abiding by it.

I first lost faith in Wolverine when I saw this.

He goes into the store acting like a badass, gets a glass water bottle, instead of opening it with his hand, he slices it off with his claws, assumingly getting glass everywhere, then asks the dude to recycle it, WTF????!!!!

It should not be called "The First X-Men" if Charles Xavier has noting to do with this, lol.

And people you dont have to hate on this, its only five issues, lol.

Anyways im looking forward for the next couple months. Alot of good stuff is coming out. Like Ms Marvel as Captain Marvel, cant wait for that. And the rest of AvsXM.

I'll give it a shot...I'm guessing this is gonna be like the prelude to the original X-MEN?? Kinda like the 1st CLASS reboot that was disguised as a prequel, but who did they think they were kidding, it was a damn remake, just like the "untold story" angle on the new SPIDERMAN movie.

wow. everybody didn't like this one. well, i'm joining the club!!! TOO MUCH EXPOSURE KILLS THE CHARACTERS.

marvel should also try doing this :

WOLVERINE is really :

-spiderman's dad
-captain america's lost brother during the world war
-the man who created the avengers
-is a scientist who made the antman suit for pym
-dr. erschein's lab friend
-daredevil's grandfather
-elektra's father's older brother

and oh wait.. i could do this all day!!!

..HE IS THE SOURCE OF JEAN GREY'S DARK PHOENIX powers.! damn.

suck it wolvie.

Haha. Good one Pux! That about sums it up. I agree, wolverine was awesome! I even named my son Logan, but he's way too overexposed now. The Marvel universe revolves around Wolverine now. If Marvel had the rights, he would've been in the Avengers movie! The catch phrase would've been, "We have a WOLVERINE!"

I agree that too much Wolvie isn't necessarily a good thing. This really bothers me. I'm not saying it'll be horrible. It may turn out to be a good story (though I don't know how) since I've seen weirder ideas pulled off. But the whole concept pisses me off. Why is it they'll just make anyone a leader of the X-Men if they're popular enough, even if it makes no sense? No matter how civilized he gets, Wolverine's a loner and not everyone was meant to lead. Also, having Magneto and Sabretooth joining his team and following his orders? I think I'm going to be sick.

This is so stupid. Greedo shot first and Charles Xavier didn't form the first mutant team with the X-Men. This is X-Men: Brand New Day stupid.
