After clashing with the Shi’ar on the edge of deep space, Scott Summers is about to encounter the last person he’d ever expect to meet – his space pirate father! Long thought dead, Corsair, leader of  that intergalactic band of misfits the Starjammers, has returned! And he’s got a new recruit in the form of his son, young Cyclops himself! Scott Summers is leaving the X-Men behind to stay in space and learn a few valuable lessons from dad: 1) How to shave, 2) How to talk to women, 3) How to steal a Badoon spaceship.

“I’m beyond excited for readers to see how Greg and Russell are collaborating with this book,” says Editor Jeanine Schaefer. “Greg is absolutely on fire, hitting every beat you would ever want from a space opera meets intergalactic road trip; and a star is born with Russell’s work here – when he’s huge people are going to be coming back to this series again and again.” Don’t miss one moment of the high adventure in deep space as Rucka & Dauterman kick off the newest cosmic adventure this May in the action packed CYCLOPS #1!

That first cover is damn beautiful. But his head is too big and his face is a little fat.

@Doopie prefers his B&W, I prefer mine BBW. To each their own I guess. xD

Nice to see they finally ditched the 'X' mask too.

Awesome, oh and @GambitFreak, they didn't ditch it. The "X" mask is the present-day Cyclops, this is the original Cyclops thats...well, time-displaced into the present day.

Yeah this is lil Cyke from the past, not adult present day Cyclops

Cyclops looks best without a mask.

@Doopie: I preferred the artwork in B&W myself. The coloring is nice just looks a little off.

As much as I'm looking forward to seeing cute awkward teenage Scott attempt the life of a space pirate, I hope the series eventually reaches a point where it shifts focus on to present day Scott. Nonetheless, super cyked for this series.

The artist also did this for NYCC last year:

So if anything, this series is gonna be sweet to look at. I think Rucka will deliver the goods though.

I can dig it, as long as it's ye olde Scott and not he jerky X-face Scott.

@Comedian03 it's just you. I have always hated Scott. He is a boring one-note character(I started reading X-Men in 1991), but when he started losing his cool, going against the grain, and acting like Magneto around the Utopia era, he quickly became one of my favorite X-Men. I may be in the minority, but I love mutant revolution Scott. I'm kind of sad that they launched a Cyclops book and made it cosmic. I mean, there's plenty of relevance in doing Shi'ar and Corsair/Vulcan stuff, but I have never really enjoyed those X-Men stories. Uncanny is Scott's story, we don't need this.

Since they are taking him out of the xmen they should ditch the costumes. Maybe space pirate attire like his old man,or Star Wars like.

guess they had to do something new though i agree the shiar storyline hasbeen played out to much cant wait to see him in a x film

Love the art. So have we all come to the conclusion that the time stream is just [frick]ed over, or what?

Love that Cyke has his own book.

I remember the days when I was called "lame" and "pasty" because he was my favorite X-Man.

I'm glad everyone has caught on.
SugarYumYum
SugarYumYum - 4/12/2014, 7:55 PM
Oh wow, it does look like that artist used the Spidey poster for a reference. hehe

@SwanRonson: Not everyone, I still come across some vocal haters but he has managed to get himself a nice fanbase in the past few years. :-)

I always liked Scott but the Utopia-now era Scott just kicked it up several extra notches for me. He's pretty much the reason I'm even reading any X-titles. Yes Uncanny is his story but I'd still like to see this title stick around after Young Scott goes home and see Adult Scott take on more personal villains like Sinister.

so young cyke has his own book now. is every [frick]ing character getting their own book? jesus how long before marvel goes back to form with REGULAR ass runs. not these shorts 40 book runs.

dunno if i'll get on board for this. this is YOUNG time displaced Cyclops, not Present Day Cyclops.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 4/12/2014, 10:02 PM
It really pisses me off that Cyke has never been given his own book before, but whe they finally do it, its the you time displaced Cyke. What a copout.

Have they even tried to explain how the x-men from the past can still be here in the present without royally [frick]ing up all of history? I mean, with them stuck here in the present that means they aren't back in the past experiencing all the things that made the x-men who they are. How is this not changing everything every second they are here?

loki668
loki668 - 4/12/2014, 10:52 PM
Marvel has SO MANY Cyclops stories that they would like to tell, that they had to bring in a second, younger Cyclops to handle the load. Meanwhile, we can't even get an X-Men film to focus on him as the core character. This isn't a Singer bash, mind you, just another reminder that Jean and Scott haven't received their due in film, as of yet.

CYCLOPS NEEDS A CHANGE...MAYBE NOT NEEDING THE GLSSES ANYMORE..ABLE TO FIRE HIS OPTIC BLASTS ON COMMAND
SugarYumYum
SugarYumYum - 4/13/2014, 3:47 PM
^There were a couple of points where he was able to control his blasts (like Astonishing X-men) but then he lost it again. Maybe they feel like he'd lose something as a character if lost his biggest handicap. With all the other shit his character is going through nowadays though, it really wouldn't be such a big deal imo.

And who wouldn't want to see this badassery again?
