Marvel reveals that Thanos has returned in Avengers Assemble #3 following his live action introduction during the mid-credits scene of Marvel's The Avengers. The cosmic villain revealed himself as the mastermind behind the new Zodiac and Tom Brevoort had this to say about his return. "Since we designed AVENGERS ASSEMBLE to be a nice, easy entry point for people coming out of the film, for all that it still exists within our current Marvel Universe, it was a bit of a no-brainer to have Thanos be the villains behind our first storyline. More than simply bringing him back, this storyline will be setting him up for bigger things that are just off on the horizon—it’s the first step towards something we’ve been working on behind the scenes for a while now."

"He’s a villain of such power and stature that he can give the Avengers a fight all by himself," he adds. "There’s no such thing as a small Thanos story—he operates on an intergalactic scale. And he’s a fascinating, nuanced character, with passions and neuroses all his own that make him stand apart as an individual, and not just a cookie-cutter moustache-twirler." This doesn't come as too much of a surprise, especially as the series (met with a mostly negative reaction from critics) is basically only in existence to to tie-in with the film. While Marvel claim that it is set in current continuity, many fans have found fault with how some of the characters are portrayed.

I agree with red hood, the throwaway spoiler in the description is needless. I know the movie has already been out a grand totaly of 4 days in the US but still...

Uhhhh wtf is wrong with this website. Lately there have been spoilers in the headlines, descriptions, etc.

I've seen the Avengers so I dont mind as much but this shit keeps happening on this site. I'd be SUPER pissed off if I hadn't seen the film yet.

CBM, get your act together and stop posting spoilers in the headlines. If not, less and less people will stop supporting this site because guess what? Some people DON'T WANT TO READ SPOILERS.

@PatientZero

I am inconvenienced by it. Why? Because the season ending of the Walking Dead WAS spoiled for me. I'm trying to defend those who haven't seen the film yet. And I would say this is a pretty big spoiler. A spoiler is a spoiler regardless.

Wow. This thread has been hijacked by the me generation. Go bitch about something worthwhile other than spoilers on a site known for spoilers after the biggest movie of this century has come out.

I'm not trying to start anything except get people to use common sense. If you're a comic book fan and you don't already know what happens at the end of the movie then why are you here. That news is on all types of social media not just comic book sites; it's everywhere. Some people are just being ridiculous or out of touch with reality if they think they can go to a site about comic book movies and not risk the chance of being spoiled, regardless of spoiler tags. And if a 20 second long clip ruins an entire movie then you should just relax and eat a Shawarma.

Hopefully his comeback is longer and done better than darkseids in the newer justice leagues. Cause that was just too short, and their fight was weak.

agree odinsbeard. i have been tip toeing around this site to avoid spoilers. i still was spoiled about thanos but that was my bad. shit happens and the only way to avoid being spoiled 100 percent is to avoid this site until you have seen it, so thats on the individual. but i just got back from seeing it and it was my favorite marvel movie yet! Joss Whedon is king, i wasn't sure he could manage so many characters and plot devices in what really isn't a lot of time, one lord of the rings movies is longer! the end credit scene caught me off guard, but i won't spoil it for you, Ha!
