Carol Danvers new look was met with a mixed reaction earlier this month when it was revealed that she would be the new Captain Marvel in a series from Kelly Sue DeConnick and Dexter Soy. However, former Ms. Marvel artist Terry Dodson has provided his take on the character on the cover of Avenging Spider-Man #9. Revealed by Comic Book Resources, there's currently no solicitation details for the book, but stay tuned to CBM for more details later this year. Of course, the question on many a comic book fans mind will be whether or not Spidey and Captain Marvel will rekindle their past near romance.

What's up her hair? It's like she can't figure out what length she wants. Other than that, I feel pressured to buy the comic.

...Because it's sooo uncommon for people to change their hair. :\

More likely it's the production team's ambivalence towards a particular hair length.

Majority of the comic book readership being male, who, for the most part, consider long hair more attractive (for some weird, no doubt fetish-related reason), I'm sure they're uncertain whether to appeal to these readers on this more base, ascetically pleasing level.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this. :)

WOW!!!! I might check out that story. I think the two of them would make an interesting Super Hero Couple. They hinted at her liking Spider-man. Plus she is a super powered person, so Parker wouldn't have to worry about her being in danger. Make it happen MARVEL

I'm a Marvel reader mostly, but I always picture DC's character when I read the name Captain Marvel. I guess he's just more prominent.

@wilddaniel.....much like power girl in the upcoming Worlds Finest, they might done some slight alterations with Ms. Marvel as well. Her hair looks good in either picture, however Dodson's is pretty good

Someone asked what Carol Danvers is a captain of... I'm pretty sure the United States Air Force or NASA in the 619 universe. As I recall she also held or holds a position with the Office of Homeland Security. Definitely has some sort of rank in SHIELD; and if you look at the Avengers as a rank and file organization; she did "Captain" them for a time.

And I have to say, I like Dodson's rendering of the new look much better than anything previous; but I still don't love the costume. Almost too much going on with it.

At least Dodson ditched the stupid mullet it looked like they were going to give her (see Wildaniel's pic).

What I'm most curious about is why they decided to make her Captain Marvel in the first place. I mean, she was already a fairly prominent superhero as Ms. Marvel in the 616 universe.

Maybe it's more a thing about trying to give her her own series that might actually sell.

You know something, if they would take everyting on the costume that is red and make it that dark blue; and then take everything that is currently dark blue and make it white... I think I could live with it. She might even look cool if they did that. I think Genis Vell(?) did that one point and I always like that palet combo.

Soo glad they kept her hair a little longer than the promo from a while back.
It looks better longer.

That picture makes her look like, twice as muscular as Spidey ....

I hope to god this change doesn't last more than a few months. Carol is MS. MARVEL. The whole Captain thing is stupid. As is this new costume - bring back her iconic black and gold.

I don't care what they try to call her or what they dress her up in, she's always going to be Ms. Marvel and thus a spin off of The Kree Captain Mar-Vell. Can't change that no matter how hard they try.

If they really want a Captain Marvel again they need to throw a bunch of money at Jim Starlin (because thats what it would take to get him back to the mainstream publishers he so loathes these days) and have him brought back right and proper.
