COMICS: The VENOM Symbiote Will Have A New Host In The Upcoming Marvel NOW Relaunch
Over the past few years, Venom has been a government agent, a Secret Avenger, and a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. However, it sounds like Flash Thompson's tenure will come to an end this year...
Earlier this week, Marvel revealed their new Marvel NOW titles, one of which was Venom #1 by Mike Costa and Gerardo Sandoval. The atwork shown (see above) featured the classic Venom, leading many to wonder whether we might be about to see Eddie Brock return to the role, especially as the image was accompanied by the tag, "Lethal Arrival." However, things may not actually be that simple.
"Venom is returning for an all-new series as part of Marvel NOW! But which Venom? Mike Costa and Gerardo Sandoval have some big ideas, and fans are going to lose it when they learn who’s wearing the symbiote," Marvel Editor in Chief Axel Alonso told ComicBook.com. So, is that it for Flash Thompson? It certainly sounds that way, but chances are that this isn't Eddie Brock either.
After all, Marvel is all about stunts and gimmicks these days, and Eddie being in the suit likely won't generate the sort of attention they crave. While Venom may have his classic look, don't be surprised if whoever is wearing the symbiote ends up being somewhat controversial based on past experience, but it will definitely be interesting to find out who's in there and what's become of Flash Thompon.
