Betting on a retcon to make the comics more like "First Class"... a "secret" team that existed before the classic Scott/Jean/Warren/Bobby/Hank group.

maybe they use Banshee, Havok and Beast, since they are the real first x-men on the movieverse.

would be cool to have a comic inspired in the prequel and that will move the plots after final events on the movie.

I would be very angry if Marvel reboots there universe. But it may just be that since Deadpool is changing and the crossovers are starting to end. It reminds me of a horrible story that happened only 1 year ago...

Either they are doing a reboot of the 'real' first xmen with the same team or a different team, or maybe it is just the original team together again doing something else. Just have to wait and see i suppose!

In all fairness, a lot of those characters you listed are dead or havent been in an x-men comic in years. A lot of them also just make appearances here and there and are not regular appearing characters. I could easily come up with a list of people who have ever been Avengers or in the JLA and it would be just as long.

I mean seriously, u have Changling on the list. He's been dead and out of comics for like 20 years, maybe longer, lol. On top of that, he was only an X-Man for an eye-blink.. Same with Thunderbird. Homeboy made his first appearance in Giant Size X-Men #1, then died in the very next issue, never to return. Im not trying to be a Dick, im just saying it isnt very fair to say that there are too many X-Men, then list a bunch of characters that have no bearing these days. I mean, in comics now, there are less than 198 mutants left in the whole world, and maybe 30 are x-men? All split between different teams.

Point being, there are just as many Avengers right now, and just as many books based on their teams and characters.

Can somebody please explain to me why they can't say "Marvel Girl" anymore? How come they always refer to her as Jean Grey? It's like no super-lady can have a code-name if she's a mutant.

Emma Frost?
Kitty Pryde?
Jean Grey?

They USED to be White Queen, Marvel Girl [phoenix], and Shadowcat [sprite].

What gives?

"...and this time around we've got one of the biggest names in comics stopping by for a major announcement."

That doesn't mean the name is working on the book. Also, Who is big with comics today? Claremont, Byrne, or any other former X-Men creator is not the "it" person with todays reader. Keep your excitement in check is all I can say.

@ cyked

Storm, armor, psylocke, karma, magik, rogue, frenzy, pixie, dazzler.

Also, Emma stopped going by the white queen because it was her name when she was evil and in the hellfire club.

Hmmm maybe they are going to reconfigure the first class team to more resemble the movie's version - magneto, Xavier, havok, Darwin, beast, mystique, banshee, etc. They did it to nick fury and deadpool.

@corndog burgler..
thank you sir! i was about to say something about that list haha.

honestly following the xmen books isn't that hard of a concept. hell, you don't even have to read them all. pick a team or 2 and you're set.

marvel should NOT do a reboot of their comics. EVER. i mean it's a good idea for DC as (from my point of view) their universe is confusing as fcuk and the new 52 really helped me jump into DC.
but marvel (i think) is well more established with a very long and fairly continuity error free history.

THe whole point about x-men and mutants was that they were meant to be the next evolutionary step and that was why they were feared and hated. It wouldn't really make sense then if there was only 5 of them. That's not an evolutionary step, so yes there are lots of mutants and in turn lots of x-men but as was already stated not all of them are used as current featured characters in the books and some of them are even dead. (some staying dead quite a long time considering it comics!)

What if it's about the first ever X-Men. Professor X's first team was a failure. Maybe that is what they are talking about. That would be interesting.

Are you guys not done complaining about X-men First Class damn get over the title and look at the concept prior to the actual setting up of Xavier's school but of course die hards cannot look past a stupid title.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 5/12/2012, 8:00 PM
@ HBO

No, Cyclops, Beast, Angel, Jean and iceman were the originals. The team you are talking about, with Darwin and vulca. Were created to save the original 5 from karakoa and they failed. Then Xavier created the team with wolvie storm and tbe rest. Vulcan's team were the failures.

If they try to say that Xavier had a team before the now known original 5, then it would be something never mentioned before.

Sure, even if u look past the fact that the original team was different in first class, my real problem was the fact that kt royally screwed up the continuity of the x-films that came before. They said it wasnt a reboot, so they purposely changed things and made it not fit. s stupid film making.

If it's Hickman writing it,I MAY be interested. And if,say,Alan Davis and Mark Farmer were doing the art,I might be even MORE interested....
