Amazing Spider-Man #50 was recently released and ended with a major status quo shift for Peter Parker. The hero has been secretly brainwashed by the Green Goblin, transforming him into the twisted "Spider-Goblin."

We've yet to see the consequences of that change, though we're not expecting the hero's villainous new persona to be a permanent change.

The series has also seen the Sinister Six reassemble, and while that would usually be a problem for Peter, they'll now have to face the web-slinger with his twisted new persona.

Today, we have two spectacular variant covers for the final two chapters in this storyline; illustrated by Gabrielle Dell'Otto, we see the classic version of Spidey doing battle with the team: Doctor Octopus, Kraven the Hunter, Electro, Mysterio, Sandman, and The Vulture.

Wells, whose MCU credits include She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine and Marvel Zombies, talked last year about the challenges of writing Amazing Spider-Man

"I can tease that many people will be very mad at me," he said of the issue which featured the (temporary) death of Ms. Marvel. "I can tease that Nick [Lowe] told me not to do any comic conventions after this issue comes out. People will be upset."

"Once we get [to issue #50] we just have to see," Wells added when asked how long he'll remain the title's writer. "I'm getting busier with other things, but I'll be on this as long as I can humanly do it. If I can do it, they will have to kick me off this book. The exact length is undecided, but I'm in the long haul. I'm here until at least issue 50."

You can take a closer look at Dell'Otto's Amazing Spider-Man #53 and #54 combined covers below.

Beautiful 😍.
It's a shame we will never see this come to life.
It would make sense to just embrace all of the colourful outfits. I feel like black leather will make a comeback.

Boy, everyone looks so angry! I'm gonna say, I grew up on Jim Lee. He cannot be passed up as at least top 5... When he is really heads down drawing that is. Yeah, I might be biased (I have my own JL collection), but still, he has to be in the convo, right?
