Marvel's Origin Boxes To Introduce New Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Juggernaut, And Wonder Man?

Newly revealed covers for Reborn: Ultimate Impact #1 confirm that four characters will receive the powers of Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell), Doctor Strange, Juggernaut, and Wonder Man this summer.

The new Ultimate Universe will seemingly conclude when the Ultimate Endgame event wraps up. However, its impact is going to be felt on Earth-616 this summer in the pages of Reborn: Ultimate Impact.

Exploring the fallout from the end of the Ultimate Universe, the five-issue limited series will debut all-new characters empowered by Origin Boxes. As a reminder, those contain the catalysts that The Maker collected to rob characters of their destinies.

Each Origin Box holds all that’s needed to grant familiar power sets to whoever opens it, from the mighty abilities of legendary superheroes to the deadly skills of the world's fiercest supervillains. Who will get their hands on these powers, and what abilities will they gain?

We know that one of them will be a Wonder Man more in line with the MCU's take on the character, but newly revealed covers for Reborn: Ultimate Impact #1 appear to confirm that the other three Origin Boxes contain the powers of The Juggernaut, Captain Marvel (the Mar-Vell version, not Carol Danvers), and Doctor Strange.

The Negative Zone's Hostilicus will seemingly receive The Juggernaut's powers. Now, we also have a first look at the other two mystery new heroes—or villains—coming to the Marvel Universe. The one looks quite similar to Ms. Marvel, costume-wise, while the other seems to have the Eye of Agamotto embedded in his chest.

"I kind of went away and picked what I thought were my favourite power sets and what I thought would be interesting to play with, what if we do a spin on this and a spin on that [and] just push things into interesting territories," writer Chris Condon recently told The Comic Source podcast (via Bleeding Cool).

"They really wanted Wonder Man in this. So, that was kind of the only thing that was, 'We would really like this in the book.' [Hostilicus] is the big bad in the book. He's covered in Annihilus's body. He leads a faction of people in the Negative Zone, they're the followers of Annihilus, and they're locked in a forever war with Blastarr's children."

"They fight and kill for these gods. Hostilicus leads the followers of Annihilus and leads them into battle every day. He's in the 6160 negative zone. So, it's kind of playing with this idea of like, what's the Ultimate Universe Negative Zone like? And is Annihilus alive there? Is he not?" the writer added.

Take a closer look at each of these newly created characters from Reborn: Ultimate Impact below.

See how long this stays with Spider-Man changing new costumes in series

@dragon316 - You do understand how the movies work especially in conjunction with the toys. They make more by changing the costumes frequently. Like every movie frequently with at least subtle changes

There's barely any fourth wall to break anymore. The only people impressed with this endless meta storytelling crap have brains so smooth the thoughts just slide into the ether.

Ms Marvel looks like maybe they're making her Dr. Strange. But this Dr. Strange is an eye doctor....wait...maybe for the Eye of Agamotto? This is so stupid it just might make sense.

@PatchesOhulihan - Yeah that is probably it. I think they might be inspiration from Harry Potter the Luna Lovegood scene with the glasses allowing her to see supernatural stuff, idk.

I think Hostillicus (Jesus, what a name) is actually getting Mar-Vell’s powers. It looks like he’s got nega bands on. The dude in the suit seems to have the Gem of Cyttorak embedded in his chest, so he’s Juggernaut.

@OmegaBlack13 - that’s exactly what I had initially noticed.

@OmegaBlack13 - You're right. There is another cover that Marvel revealed with the dude in the suit showing more clearly the gem in his chest and Cyttorak behind him.

They keep nearly bringing back Mar-Vell, almost... kind of... but he's a ghost, a zombie, an alternate, his son, or Carol. Just do it properly and for good.

There isn't a single interesting choice here. They could have literally done anything with it and this is what they come up with.

@SpideyQuad - Sorry, Im going to pass on this one. I can barely get through the books I follow. Im getting close to just giving up the X-books. They are all terrible.
