SPOILERS: The Character Returning In SECRET EMPIRE #9 Has Been Revealed And It Will Blow Your Mind

The cover for Secret Empire #9 was classified to remove an unknown character seen battling Baron Zemo. Well, that person has now been revealed and it's fair to say that their return will shock you...

Today's issues of Captain America #25 and Secret Empire #8 revealed that Bucky is, in fact, alive and has been hiding in plain sight in Atlantis. After being strapped to a plane full of explosives by Baron Zemo, most fans thought the former Winter Solider was dead and likely to be revived via the Cosmic Cube but he's alive and well and ready to join the fight against his old friend who is now loyal to Hydra.

With that big twist comes the uncensored version of the Secret Empire #9 cover, and as you can see, Bucky is back in action against Zemo and clearly ready to join the fight against the evil Captain America.

It's not clear what the future holds in store for Bucky after Secret Empire. We know Steve Rogers is getting his own solo series but there's been no mention of this fan-favourite character. With any luck, he'll be given a supporting role in the Mark Waid/Chris Samnee series but we'll have to wait and see. Are you excited to see the hero back in the land of the living? Just read Cpt. America SR #25 and SE #8.
Eh, in only 2 issues a shitload of things happened, it's obvious that Spencer has accelerated everything, i dunno why, but i blame Legacy for that.
I have a feeling that lots of things changed between the pre and post announcement of Marvel Legacy, Spencer didn't give the proper attention to certain things, basically Bucky is alive, the managed to break the shield and also the bubble everything in a single issue, at the same time.
Veeeeeery convenient.
And that thing with that Inhuman Bark (God forbid they don't abuse Inhumans and shove them down our throats) who basically changed the whole f*cking game for Tony & Co.? Are you kidding me here?
Like this? Holy mother of aaaall deus ex machina Spencer!! 0 style, i've come to expect better things from you, what's the rush, man???

F*cking Legacy, THAT's the answer...

Seriously though, a super-character's death has gotten to the point that it has little to no impact. The reader's emotional response has become the same as it would be if the character were kidnapped by unknown forces. Sure we don't get to see the character for a bit, but in the end, we KNOW, they will be returned. It may have been MEANT for shock value (back in the day) – but now it's merely a memo that announces the arrival of a fill-in hero, who steps in to fill shoes that are "too big to fill."

@KrazyForKomix - Unless you're a Legionnaire. Invisible Kid, Ferro Lad, Karate Kid. When you have 25 team members you can afford to lose a few. (Reboots don't count).
