Black Panther failed to walk away with the top prize during the 91st Academy Awards last night (controversially, that went to Green Book instead) but it was still a very good night for Marvel.
Each year, there's always someone who seems to be missing from the Oscar's "In Memoriam" segment but, much to the relief of comic book fans everywhere, Stan Lee was indeed included. As you can see below, he was honoured alongside a number of Hollywood greats and the Academy even included a clip from his cameo in X-Men: The Last Stand.
It's worth noting that there was no mention of Spider-Man co-creator Steve Ditko. He also passed away last year but didn't play a role in any of the Marvel movies and wasn't anywhere near as well-known. Despite that, his work obviously had a huge impact on Hollywood.
Despite not winning an Academy Award for "Best Picture," both Black Panther and Marvel Studios made history last night and it's put them on the map in an even bigger way than they already were. What did you think about last night's awards show?
