(UPDATE) COMICS: Rick Remender And Jeremy Opena To Kickstart ASTONISHING AVENGERS?

Marvel's previously released The Astonishing X-Men and Astonishing Spider-Man, could The Avengers be next in line for the astonishing treatment? Possible creative teams for FF4 and Avengers.

Rick Remender and Jeremy Opena are rumored to be starting on a new Marvel comic series titled Astonishing Avengers according to Bleedingcool.com.
The rumor is "green with a tinge of yellow" as measured by the site's traffic-light rumor chart. The 'Astonishing' title usually means that it will be a limited series that will largely ignore any major events unfolding in the larger Marvel Universe.

Here's a few more Marvel rumors that BC posted yesterday that the above rumors is spun from.

-Rick Remender and Jeremy Opena on an Avengers book? New Avengers maybe?

-Mark Waid takes over Avengers Assemble?

-Jonathan Hickman and Essad Ribic on either Uncanny X-Men or the Avengers books that’s not the one Remender and Opena are on?

- Kieron Gillen and Greg Land on Iron Man.

- Matt Fraction and Salvador Larocca are sticking together… wherever they end up.

- Only the very best artists for a Brian Bendis cosmic relaunch…

These changes are reportedly set to happen after Avengers vs X-Men concludes. If Remender and Opena indeed move to Astonishing Avengers and Bendis departs on that new Guardians of the Galaxy series, does that mean Hickman gets plain old vanilla Avengers? I certainly hope so! And now that I think about it, the roster has to be something different from Avengers Assemble, so what non-movie Avengers do you want on the team? Personally, I was always partial to the West Coast Avengers growing up.

(UPDATE) It appears that Matt Fraction and Salvador Larocca are possibly taking over Fantastic Four and Hickman and Esad Ribic will replace Bendis on Avengers following AvsX.

All I know is, The Avengers line will be much more better quality wise after AVX. About time too.

It'll also be interesting to see how Bendis handles the cosmic universe.

The Astonishing treatment, IMO, is when Marvel uses big name writers and artist for a book. This is contrast to books with an OK writer and OK artist.

Astonishing X-Men had Joss Whedon writing and John Cassidy pencil. Astonishing Wolverine and Spider-man has Jason Aaron and Adam Kubert. Astonishing Thor has Rob Rodi and Mike Choi.

So Bleeding Cool is now saying Hickman will be on The Avengers. Hell yeah if this is true.

Hickman should make the franchise real epic. He managed to me make like the Fantastic Four and I never liked the team like that.

I'm down with everything I see here... Until I saw Greg Land on Iron Man. Can the Iron Man books catch a break, as far as art is concerned? :c

I wonder if Cheung will be the artist on Bendis' cosmic book? They said his next project would be big. Of course there's no word on McGuiness' next project either. I could definitely do with Waid back on Avengers. Fraction and Larroca on FF sounds good too.

The only thing that the "Astonishing" treatment should ever imply... is that Joss Whedon is writing.

Seriously! Abnett and Lanning brought the [frick]ing cosmic universe back to Marvel after being long dead! Now you're going to screw it all up with putting [frick]ing BENDIS on it??? A&L made those characters and that crew what they are today and the team that everyone loves. I can't beleive they wouldn't just have A&L just take it back over. God I hope this doesn't suck gigantic balls.

ASTONISHING TREATMENT = stand alone, accessible to new readers but in continuity.

What happened to Astonishing Captain America by Andy Diggle and Adi Granov?

First off, the Astonishing treatment is greed defined, it wasn't bad enough that after the X-Men movies got big the number X-titles tripled basically, now Avengers is big so here comes 394875 Avengers books, there have already been too damn many since Civil War...and why all the love for GotG, sorry no one ever will really like that crap, why they have toys, cartoon cameos, etc is beyond me...i'm sure this Ast Avengers crap is already planned out but it's going to be worthless.
