VIDEO: Marvel Set The Scene For Next Year's SECRET WARS With "Battleground Forged"

(All-New) Marvel have released a teaser video titled "Battleworld Forged", which puts those 16 cryptic past event promos on the map (literally) to set the scene for next Summer's new Secret Wars. Check it out after the jump.

So what does this mean? Well for one it confirms that those teasers were indeed related to Secret Wars, and it seems to have placed each one on the map in such a way that they represent their own Country, or Nation. Will this set up a kind of parallel world/reality war? It sounds very like what DC is planning with their Convergence event! We may get some more details before the say is out, but we're sure to know a lot more by the time Secret Wars launches May 2015 from Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribic, with covers by Alex Ross.

The "All New Marvel" at the end piques my interest. Sounds like a soft reboot.

Deja Vu would have been a more apt title.

It does seem similar to the original Secret Wars, just larger in scope. The original Secret Wars was a blatant example of a publisher just trying to sell toys. Marvel did a study and found that kids were most excited by the words "secret" and "war" so they just combined them and used the event to sell toys.

Looks like the premise to a MMORPG.

16 civilizations each with good and bad guys waiting for a half-orc ranger that wants to level up.

Gotta give it to Marvel, they do make better announcements than DC.

#MarvelEvent

Convergence also just sounds like a sequel to the girlie movie Divergent.

So basically the "House of Ideas" just copied what DC is doing AGAIN??

Well, it's not the first time, & I'm pretty sure it won't be the last.

I just wish they'd reboot. 616 is great but it's starting to feel old.

This should've been a video game instead of an "event".

How is it flame bait? It's just accurate! This event and Convergence couldn't be more [frick]ing similar is they tried. Not suggesting one copied the other, juts stating the facts.

Are you referring to DC's even they just announced like 2 days ago? I mean you can't honestly be comparing that event right? I mean it's not like Marvel has been teasing this event for months or anything.

I'm more of a DC reader but Marvel's Secret Wars honestly looks much more interesting.

All their past events boiling down into 1 gigantic event.

It's like an Event Crossover!

So DC and Marvel are doing the same thing ?
Their respective CEOs must be members of the same country club...

@DEVLIN712

I'm agreeing!

Reboot the whole thing! Sever ties with the Kirby/Ditko/Lee-based version of the 616 Universe. Redo ALL costumes.
Have the new wave of artists and writers stand on their own. This would be the PERFECT opportunity to more firmly establish the MCU as the one true Marvel Universe.
I'm serious.

That way we can finally stop worrying about the painfully slow death/transformation of 616. It will freeze 616 the same way that DC froze the Justice Society's universe for so long (pre 52).
And wouldn't that be more fun after all.
Think about it!
You could have bird-communicating, shady past living, Black Panther harness wearing Falcon meet and join forces with Air Force Vet saving Sam Wilson!
You could have the purple mask wearing hot head, Hawkeye have a "battle misunderstanding" with SHIELD Agent Barton.
You could have the Mandarin fight Trevor for the rights to the name! I wonder how THAT would go!

I'm totally a part of the minority here, but I'm looking forward to both "Secret Wars" and "Convergence" and hope that both are soft reboots. Tying into 75 years of continuity just gets impossible. The stories we all know and love will always be there. Just because continuity gets reset doesn't mean your favorite arcs don't "count" anymore.

I haven't been able to find a good jumping on point to get back into DC so I'll be reading every issue of "Convergence" with enthusiasm.

And as for Marvel, I was out between "The Clone Saga" and "Dark Avengers", but Marvel NOW was a great jumping on point and I'm probably reading 40 marvel titles now.

I'd love for there to be environments where all these great writers can tell stories without having to worry about fanboys bitching about trivial things like "YOU MADE HER EAT A PEANUT BUTTER SANDWICH IN ISSUE 643 BUT IN ISSUE 107 IN 1978 THEY MENTIOED SHE HAS A NUT ALLERGY. YOU SUCK AT WRITING!"
