X-MEN #1 Introduces The Idea That Cyclops, Jean Grey, And Wolverine Are Marvel's First "Thruple"

Yes, you read that correctly. In Jonathan Hickman's X-Men #1, it's seemingly revealed that Cyclops and Jean Grey now have an open relationship that also involves Wolverine (and possibly Emma Frost).

In yesterday's X-Men #1, we learned that the Summers family now live on the moon thanks to the amazing abilities of Krakoa. However, a rather baffling reveal is that Wolverine actually lives with them, and Bleeding Cool has spotted something that's bound to get comic book fans talking.

In the enclosed floor plan, we see that Cyclops and Jean Grey have separate living quarters. However, Marvel Girl's room is directly in between his and Wolverine's and unlike all the other rooms, hers has a door into both Scott and Logan's.

This also ties back into those "Sinister Secrets" from House of X and Powers of X in which it was said, "He’s the best there is at what he does. She’s married with a kid. The husband knows exactly what’s going on, but who is he to point the finger? He’s up to much the same, and more. Maybe this is just the new normal on the mutant island."

In other words, it appears as if Cyclops and Marvel Girl now have an open relationship, which was also hinted at near the end of House of X #6. There, Krakoa's mutants had a huge party and Scott, Logan, Jean, and Emma Frost all shared some beers. This foursome have always had a complicated romantic history, and it now seems they're all having their cake and eating it.

So, hooray for free love on Krakoa?

Whether this is something Jonathan Hickman chooses to explore remains to be seen, but the introduction of this mutant nation certainly seems to have changed a lot for our favourite X-Men...

A top down view of bedroom locations in Scott Summers’ house on the moon, from X-Men #1, Marvel Comics (2019). Jean’s bedroom is between Scott and Wolverine’s, and they all appear to be conjoined.

Shock value, story development or sketchy Xavier at work? Characterizations have just about been broken.

Considering all the love triangles, affairs, and extreme horniness that has fueled some of the relations in the X-Men universe, I’m oddly surprised that this hasn’t happened before lol

@Zappy - Exactly. What they're doing to these characters and what they're trying to normalize is just disgusting.

In other words: Cyclops got cucked by Jean?
Okay, seriously:
Being against monogamy is for me just an excuse to be an animal. If you truly love somebody, then you don't waste your time [frick]ing someone else.

@ThunderThighs - Agreed. This is clearly more evidence of Marvel's leftist agenda.
