X-MEN: FALL OF THE HOUSE OF X Cover Brings Back Polaris...As The Marvel Universe's New Magneto?!

Check out the covers and learn more about February's instalments of Fall of the House of X and Rise of the House of X, the two series that will serve as the conclusion of the X-Men's current Krakoa era...

The beginning of the end of the X-Men's revolutionary Krakoan Age is very nearly upon and, as of now, what comes next remains a mystery to us.

Just like Jonathan Hickman boldly kicked it off in 2019 in twin series, House of X and Powers of X, the finale of the Krakoan Age will be told across two intertwined series this January in Gerry Duggan and Lucas Werneck's Fall of the House of X and Kieron Gillen and R.B. Silva's Rise of the Powers of X.

It's a who's who of current mutant mastermind storytellers, and together, they're bringing Krakoa down in epic style.

The two five-issue limited series will reportedly deliver a breathtaking saga across mutant history and future as the X-Men of today and tomorrow wage the final war against extinction across their entire existence. Now, you can take a sneak peek at the covers for Fall of the House of X #2 and Rise of the Powers of X #2, both arriving in February.

And no, your eyes aren't deceiving you; it really does appear as if Polaris is going to become the Marvel Universe's new Magneto. For a time, at least. As noted, what comes next for the X-Men is unclear, and we can't say for sure whether Lorna Dane will play a role in that future.

In Fall of the House of X #2, the X-Men may be at their lowest spot, and they may be on the brink of complete eradication...but they are not going down without a fight! Polaris returns to guide the X-Men home, bringing a wicked surprise for Orchis. This epic tale split in two continues as the Krakoan Age nears its conclusion.

Outside time and space comes mutantdom's last hope in Rise of the Powers of X #2! Floating between dimensions, hiding from a Dominion who wishes to crush them. Can Xavier and his crew survive? And when we find out their plan, will we want them to? The end of the Krakoan Age continues in this epic tale split in two.

"The two series that are one has been where this story has been leading since the Dawn of Krakoa," Duggan teases. "Polaris is coming from Knowhere, and we hope you'll join us as well..."

Check out both covers below and stay tuned for more news on this crossover event as we have it.

"Magsheto" - @mountainman

Mountain, I'm not defending it, and if you've seen one post of me, you know I won't, but it's not the first timethey'e done a thing like this, and it won't be the last.

For fukc's sake Supergirl e is. We gonna front on her too? I would, but it's because she's not an original character, not because of her gender. Sidekicks and spin-off characters, Supergirl, Miles Morales, Robin, Cassie Sandsmark, etc, don't have their own identities, and are too tied to someone else.

A character like Harvey Dent, or even James Gordon, who is closely tied to Batman, can still e it independently, because they are not sidekicks, or spin-offs, even though they exist in the same city as Batman, and are almost nearly-exclusively associated with Batman. Those characters existed exclusively without the existence of Batman/Bruce Wayne. You can't say the same about Robin, Supergirl, Miles Morales.

This won't hold, because Polaris is too intrinsically tied to Magneto. I don't care what Blade was gonna be, there is no way in hell, even with this Marvels movie about to bomb, that Marvel would remove Magn - "Erik" - from the X-Men. It'd be like removing Bruce Wayne from Batman.

@videovac - Honestly I’m mostly joking here. Polaris taking Magneto’s moniker, although a bit lazy, is one of the legacy name swaps that makes the most sense. She is his daughter and has the same powers at least.

@PatchesOhulihan - hey, that's my xmen name.

My superpower is really bad dad jokes.

I'm literally only on the main line up to annoy magneto anytime we fight him.

No need for her to take that mantle. She has her own identity, doesn't need to use her dad's.

@Polaris - Exactly Polaris is her name and wearing the helmet doesn't automatically make you Magneto.

I guess they could give her a new name but not Magneto.

@The1st - Yeah, but I still don't like it. Lately there's been too many legacy characters and I'm bored. I don't want 5432068 versions of the same, I want characters to be unique, to stand out, and not just look like replacements.

@bobevanz - same. And the way I see it, the MCU is slowly turning into the same thing. No way I can keep up, so I'm just only picking the things I wanna read/watch.

"same. And the way I see it, the MCU is slowly turning into the same thing. No way I can keep up, so I'm just only picking the things I wanna read/watch." - @bkmeijer1

Thinking like that is how the comic book I dusty barely makes any money now.

Similarity indeed.

For Hollywood, the so-called superior artform (that being live-action) to follow in the same path as the comic book industry, and lose money due to bad idea, after bad idea, is not too ironic.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 11/8/2023, 3:08 AM
@videovac - on the whole, I don't think they'll ever lose money. The movies and shows will remain profitable, just less so.

If I were to make a comparison to movies, I see superhero movies go the way of musicals, epics, westerns, horrors and animation. They've had their peak, and now they'll just stick around.

Those are some pretty cool covers. Not the biggest fan of the idea, but I like the design.

@KaptainKhaos - Most of us like Polaris as a character but find this idea lazy and dumb. But go in with your assumptions.

"Can't wait for reactionary dudes who don't read comics to be mad about this for some reason" - @KaptainKhaos

For once I - slightly - agree with you. However, you're just an pre-emptive and inse ure as reactionary worrying about them coming in here and saying something.

You're right, but the irony is you're the very thing you accuse others of.

Since neither you nor I have actually talked about the CONTENT of the story so far, without even having reading it yet, I don't mind it. This is comic books. They do shit like this on the reg. This is (literally). Tuesday. It's just another thing/day for them.

Otto Octavius was fukcing Spider-Man for fukc's sake. You got two guys running around being called Spider-Man in a game right now. Pointing out someone else's jumpiness doesn't negate or eliminate or hide your own.
KaptainKhaos
KaptainKhaos - 11/8/2023, 12:33 PM
@videovac - It's just funny how reactionaries who don't even read comics get mad because it's now their entire personality. Remember when Superman's son came out as gay and reactionaries who have never read a comic instantly got angry?... it's goofy.

Yeah man, mantles are constantly passed, some of them work, some don't.

I personally loved Superior Spider-Man, especially when he realized Pete was pulling his punches the entire time. I feel like it's the small details like that which makes it work.

There was also a movie with a shit ton of Spider-Men/Women/T-Rex.

Yeah you're right, it's just so exhausting seeing folks trying to be mad at everything and unable to actually enjoy something

TheUnworthyThor - 11/7/2023, 4:31 PM
That’s cool. Polaris has long, long, long been underutilized as a character. The daughter of Magneto, who had been around since the early days of the X-men, with her powers as powerful as they are should be a bigger deal. She won that contest a few years back for a reason.
