CAPTAIN AMERICA: SENTINEL OF LIBERTY Teaser Sees Marvel Comics Ask Fans To Help Solve A Huge New Mystery

Today sees the release of Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #1 from the creative team of Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing, and Carmen Carnero. We haven't had a chance to check out the issue yet, but Marvel Comics just dropped a last-minute teaser that finds Steve Rogers embroiled in a conspiracy as old as his shield.

The publisher says that eagle-eyed readers of the series might just be able to uncover information about the mystery before Cap himself does, noting that some clues have already dropped, while others will emerge in the coming months.

Teasing exactly how shocking and far-reaching this mysterious saga will be is the cover of September's Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #4.

In the series, Steve Rogers returns to New York with more questions than answers about the origin of the shield, only to discover that Bucky knows more about the sinister Outer Circle than Steve realized. And now something is stalking Captain America through the streets of Manhattan, putting everyone who crosses paths with Steve in danger.

This won't be the first time Marvel Comics has revisited World War II in order to put a new spin on the Star Spangled Avenger's origin story, though we're intrigued to find out where this is going. More details are bound to be revealed in today's first issue, of course, and we'll be sure to share any major details with you later today.

Check out the cover to issue #4 below, and stay tuned to the official Captain America Twitter account for clues to help Steve unravel the mystery...

Hey @JoshWilding can i make a request? When you show a cover like this can you name the cover artist? It's a really nice cover and i had to google to find the artist. Turns out it's CARMEN CARNERO, according to marvel.com, who also did the interior of the book. Which is not always the case.

Leaving clues throughout the book so we can uncover the mystery before Cap is actually a pretty interesting way to keep readers really engaged.

@bkmeijer1 - Great 💡 idea! In order for comics to thrive, we need to take advantage of the medium. Things like interactive clues are a nice touch.
