Sinister War hasn't quite been what we expected, though the Spider-Man event series has featured plenty of action, with the wall-crawler forced to battle six different versions of the Sinister Six.

Kindred has pulled out all the stops to end Peter Parker, but it's ultimately Morlun who comes close to delivering the final blow. Just as he's about to absorb the hero's life essence, Boomerang leaps into action and buys Spidey the time he needs to regroup. Unfortunately, that comes at the cost of his own life, and Fred Myers is killed in a way there's really no coming back from.

Writer Nick Spencer put the spotlight on Boomerang in the pages of The Superior Foes of Spider-Man, later making him a supporting character during his Amazing Spider-Man run. While Fred has driven Peter mad as his roommate, we've learned there's much more to the villain than meets the eye.

That's evident from his sacrifice in Sinister War #4, and this moment is bound to come as a blow to longtime fans of the character (it's also the second time a baddie with "Boomerang" in their name has died in a horrible way this month if you count what happened in The Suicide Squad).

Ultimately, Spidey manages to overcome these Sinister Sixes with some help from Doctor Octopus, and the stage has now been set for an epic clash with Kindred over the coming weeks.
