WWE & NXT Superstars Paid Tribute To Marvel, DC & Disney Characters With Their Ring Gear Over The Weekend

NXT held its TakeOver: Toronto II PPV event this past Saturday, which was followed by WWE's SummerSlam last night. As is often the case, several Superstars took the opportunity to pay tribute to their favorite pop culture characters with their custom ring-gear.

Representing Marvel, Johnny Gargano donned some unmistakable Wolverine clobber for his 2-out-of-3-falls NXT Championship match with Adam Cole. Then, Alexa Bliss channeled her inner Buzz Lightyear for her Women's Tag-Team Championship match on the SummerSlam kickoff show. Later on in the night, Ricochet debuted some awesome Nightwing gear for his US Title match with AJ Styles.

...Why would Wolverine's own chest have three scratch marks across it?

@Spock0Clock - You've never finished a wank and accidentally scratched the rash you got from the heat of your laptop with your retractable claws??

@Spock0Clock - you failed to mention the cute little claws on his wrist bands. Only thing he's missing is his trick or treat bag and flashlight.

Nice. Been away for a while since Jeff Hardy’s injury but WWE is always awesome. It’s fun to see this stuff.

Of all the things I’ll never understand, pretend wrestling is near the top. I mean if I wanted to hear a bunch of guys talk about how tough they are for 30 minutes and then play fight in leather undies for two minutes... wait, no, I’d never want that.

MrCamw1 - 8/12/2019, 12:29 PM
@connorblaze - I dont think we can talk since we praise people for wearing funny superhero costumes pretending to be superheroes.
Spiderfan2226
Spiderfan2226 - 8/12/2019, 1:08 PM
@MrCamw1 - exactly. It makes no sense to make fun of pro wrestling for being fake, filled with guys on peds in tight costumes, gratuitously specialized women in even tighter costumes, and for having soap opera-like outlandish stories when all that is even more true of superhero movies/comics and one of them just broke the all time box office record. And the highest paid guy in Hollywood reaches where he is by taking his schtick from the ring to the big screen.
Pro wrestling is a medium, just like comic books. There is great and terrible examples of both. Steve Austin vs Bret Hart was art, certainly more so than X-men: apocalypse.

@Spiderfan2226 - *should have said sexualized women, not specialized (autocorrect fail)

@Spiderfan2226 - Exactly this, if you like anything liek Superheroes, Sci-Fi or whatever (Which are all Fake I hate to break it to you) you have NO SAY on pro Wrestling if you have an interest with a similar aspect to it.

I heard last nights payperview was solid. Trish Sgratus looked like a treat in her 40s and The Fiend was fire. Other stuff I heard was good too but my brothers the wrestling guy not me.

@MrCamw1 - The Fiend was the best thing from last night's SummerSlam. He and Charlotte vs Trish were my favorite things about the PPV.
BigDriggs
BigDriggs - 8/12/2019, 3:16 PM
@MrCamw1 - Trish status still looks amazing. And the fiend was so badass. Lesnar vs Rollins was a great main event as well.

MrCamw1 - 8/12/2019, 4:29 PM
@TexasAvenger - I didnt get a chance to watch the full match for the fiend but his entrance was great.
MrCamw1
MrCamw1 - 8/12/2019, 4:38 PM
@BigDriggs - I've heard she looks great and yeah the Fiend is know joke. I'm told Goldberg made a good comeback from the Saudi Arabia show.
TexasAvenger
TexasAvenger - 8/12/2019, 5:30 PM
@MrCamw1 - It was sick as hell man. I thought I'd be underwhelmed by SummerSlam since New Japan's G1 Climax had been killing it since last month but I really enjoyed the show.
